My neighbor kid, I'll call him Johnny, is a knife addict thanks to me. He brought over a new Spitfire, and it is stamped 721....not 722. Is there some difference? Very nice knife for the money.

That's strange. The catalog as well as the price sheet, shows all versions of the Spitfire as being model 722, partially serrated or not and no matter the color.

Thanks for the response Dave. I plan on taking a closer look at it today. I'll try to get a pic. P.S. Welcome Back!

Here is a pic. I have a pic from inside the big box retailer as well, but i'll have to doctor the photo to be sure to avoid deal spotting. The "tag" in the knife case states 721. Must be special just for this retailer???

I recently got the same version of the spitfire; year, color, plain edge and is marked 722. By that picture it looks like that one has more of a drop point, there is not a swedge cut, and the back of the handle does not curve downward as much. Disregard the Case, but this is a bad picture of mine, maybe you can see what I mean.

Huhhhh....thanks for the reply!

I thought I bought a spitfire at WM and now learned in my thread that these are not spitfires, but 721 "slimline" folders. (says slimline folder on the end of the box)

Different blade profiles and the lanyard hole is smaller.

As Bear Claw said, these are not 722 Spitfires, but 721 Slimlines. At first I thought that the only difference was the blade grind, but after looking closer, the handle profile is also considerably different.

The more I compare them, the more I like the Slimline over the Spitfire.

Bear, for what it's worth, mine did not come in a box, but rather in a blister pack.

CJ Buck talked about a mini-spitfire in the works. The original Spitfire is such success. BTW, Buck makes its own pivot screws for the Spitfire so does not have to go out of house to source these, male/female screw together pivot screws.

So where are these slimlines made? I looked on Buck's website and could not find them.

After a closer look you are right, Buck USA but still can not find them on the website.

Not sure how up to date the website is. There are several models on bucks site that will say "out of stock" but if you call them they do have some of those models available to sell and will take orders over the phone. Or, could be that is is a manufacturer exclusive? Wally world only?

Dou you guys have a problem with lock rock on these? I bought the 721 which was really bad. If you tighten the lock bar screw, you can even open the knife it tightens the spring too much. Same with the Spitfire. It play wasn't as bad but damn close. It's a shame because everything else about the knives were great.

The 721 is a Walmart only knife. Walmart doesn't want to compete with other retailers so their knife is unique. I asked another forum member here in Post Falls, where I am now, & he talked to a Buck employee about the 721.
