Yangdu blessed me with another box of knives that needed a little bit of help. I took Friday off (mental health day) and wife was out of town for the weekend so it was a productive weekend in the man cave.
Here's a shot of a few that arrived. The Seax was awesome, a hard to sent back even before I touched it. It was good!

A Nabin Balance with rivets but no handle?

After a couple days. I made a stand for the Seax (she may wish to offer it with a different knife or by itself. I checkered the handle of the Seax and it really improved the grip.
The KK was the one I tried and failed to do the molten lead inlay. I knocked that off and added a stabilized piece of Maple I had laying around. I think Single Grind sent it to me awhile back. It worked perfect.
I also checkered the handle on the little JKM? Couple other blanks I don't know what I'm gonna do with yet.

Last weekend I put a piece of antler on a Sarge Knife, then realized I had a couple antler buttons that matched. My first mule deer, both the antler and the buttons.
So I made a little stand to go with it. I think this will be offered as a set.

Lastly, just minutes ago I glued up a Antler handle on a Nabin Balance knife. The one with the rivets but no handle?? Found a piece in my room, didn't even have to go through the snow to get to the garage. Thought it was a perfect fit. Feels really good in hand, diameter and length are good. Too early to tell how it will swing, still in the drying process.

Got one or two others in the works, a nice VUK with a two tone handle that I'm oiling up and hoping it screams beautiful when it's done. Pretty nice already.
Most of these are heading for Reno tomorrow. Yangdu will offer them sometime in the future. She thought a little preview might be a good thing.
Help with the slow weekend doldrums if you got them. I had a blast, great weekend.
Ready to stay home and tinker every day. Alas not any time soon I reckon.

Ok, how come my pictures only got links. I shall see if I can fix that.

Ok, more better!

Dang dude ya did good, they all look great, the seax is sweet and love the antler button stand with the sarge. You da man.

Very nice! Cant wait to see these hit the DOTD! Thanks for supporting HI and the Kamis Bawanna.

What's the story on the two blades with the teeny-tiny tangs?

It looks like the best way to deal with those would be cut back the blades about 4" at the tang end to create real tangs, then attach a handle.

I was thinking the same thing!

I was thinking those tangs are mighty short!

I think they were intend to have handles and then a brass or silver cap fitted and the tiny little tang peened over.
I was digging around trying to find something to make such a cap with but come up empty.
The handle is quite short, I may narrow the tang a bit and add a bit of length with the wood.
Still in the thinking and planning stage.

Yes those short ones look like JKM-1s. Those are full chiruwa tangs. I love my JKM-1, but I have always felt the handle was a bit small as I can only wrap 3 fingers around it and my pinkie hanging off.

Great looking knives Mr.B! Love that crown stand too! I agree it should go as a set. Very nice Seax. Good job on the checkering.

Bawanna, you need some of Bookie's 1/8'' thick brass for butt caps and thingies.

Namaste, guys,

I wonder if I should ask Yangdu, our Lady of the Khukuris about one of the smaller knifes (not the Seax) even before she got them back from, you Bawanna.?

I'd love to own a knife which I could carry concealed. The Sarge sure is a beauty, may I ask about how long it is? The antler handle is world class.

What does KK mean? Beautiful Maple Wood Handle. You are doing outstanding jobs, Bawanna. How long is that one? Would it come with a sheat?

I ask because I consider buying a real large Khukuri for a friend. Mail to Austria costs a lot (almost 50 USD), and why not putting the large and the small one into one packet. That way I could save some money.

A last question: Which knife would you as experienced Khukuri-owners recommend for concealed carry self-defense? The Sarge or the KK? Or perhaps another one? I think it shoudn't be longer than around eight to ten inches, am I right?

Would be happy to get a reply,

Thank you. :)

To me a carry knife really shouldn't be much over about 8. The Sarge is a great size. The KK (Kumar Karda) is a great knife but it's about 10 I think.
These all had sheaths. The Sarge had the little stand. You might not be interested in that if you intend to carry it.
They are all enroute to Reno as we speak, left yesterday.
Another good small carry knife that I've recently discovered and carry myself is the Rusty SD. It's in the 7 to 8" range and a great little knife. I put an antler handle on that one too.

I'm not very talented working metal. That's what I probably need but not sure I have the ability to do anything worthy with it.
I did make a few guards out of aluminum which I thought I did ok on. I guess that's something.

Another good choice would be an HI karambit. One of those was for sale in today's DOTD, but it's already gone. If you like it, email Yangdu to see if she has another.

The HI karambits are very solid blades (much more robust than the western style kerambits) that would be excellent for self defense and also for many camping tasks.

Agreed. The shape of the HI Karambits makes them useful for many every day task, unlike the western styles which are not good for much of anything but self defense or offense I guess if your a mean one.

I love my Kerambit.
