Bought a "super" condition Case 6217. Wow. My bad. Serious gap between the liner and backspring. Major blade play. Did get a refund, but it took a long time. Never again will I biy from this guy. Buyers beware. Item is relisted with no mention of defects.

I've had a similar experience with this guy. Bought a "Mint" Case Classic Stockman. Beautiful pictures. When I got the knife it had a pretty bad blade rub scratch on the main blade. But to be fair, I also bought a GEC that WAS Mint. With this fellow it is "Caveat Emptor", Buyer Beware.

I have bought many knives, maybe as many as 75, from this ebay seller. I have returned 2 (or might be 3) knives because they were not quite 'right'. Seller accepted return, no hassle, and refunded me fully soon after he received it. So i have no hesitation to buy from this seller because if i don't like the knife i receive, it's easy to get my money back.
Sometimes we are too critical. This guy works alone and usually has about 200 knives as 7 day listings. This means a huge amount of picture taking & posting and a great deal of time packing & shipping (he always ships in less than 24 hrs). With this volume of work some knives with 'issues' will slip through.
He lists a wide range of collectible knives and some of the ones i have received from him are top condition, all original, very collectible knives for a price that was a very good deal for me, the buyer.
I regularly check his listings and will continue to do so.

Y'all might want to read up a little on him (and Jim Parker while you're at it...) if you're not familiar with his illustrious history. Just do a little searching in here: Bernard Levine's Knife Collecting & Identification

;)

ETA: There are a few of threads in this very forum that are worth checking out as well.

JAB, Bernard Levine has a very long standing dislike of this seller and bad-mouthed him at every opportunity. I have read probably every thread saying negative things about sportcolbs. I think many people are quick to jump on the band wagon of trashing him. He has become a scapegoat for frustrated knife buyers to flog.
There are so many ebay knife sellers that are far more deceptive and dishonest. Sportcolbs is about average for honesty and disclosure of issues. Ebay knife sellers go from absolute integrity, full disclosure to full dishonesty and continually passing off fakes as all original. Sportcolbs 'lives' in the middle between these 2 extremes.
You do not have to bid on his auctions and i think it is unfair to berate him publicly based on one knife in which you got your money back.

But it's not just Mr. Levine. It's a whole bunch of people who have been ripped off by this guy.

Based on what I have read so far, I would never even look at one of this crook's listings.

This is long term fraud and easy way to make money.

Basically it sounds like a dishonest merchant who will sell products that are 2nd hand and used as new to make a mark up. All the while selling knives that are likely NIB to keep the negative publicity in check.

You guys are just jumping on the bandwagon, like so many others, you are not speaking of first hand experience. So it gives the appearance of "It's a whole bunch of people who have been ripped off by this guy." It was Bernard who i think started this pile-up, if not he certainly did fan the flames frequently; i.e. he had his own grudge against this guy.
I have no connection to this seller other than having bought a bunch of knives from him. I am just standing up for something i believe in: Fairness. Unfortunately with the internet has come the ability to destroy someone based on hearsay alone.
It's embarrassing to admit that i have bought over 8,000 knives on ebay, but this to show that i have lots of ebay knife buying experience. I will say again: Sportcolbs is about 'average' regarding honesty/dishonesty among ebay knife sellers.
If you see a knife he lists that you might want, message him beforehand and ask if you can return the knife for refund if you find it to have been messed with. His reply will let you know.

I've always said that I'd like to find out who reconditions some of his knives because they do great work. It's just a shame he never discloses the knife as such.

Well, I sent him a message why he didn't disclose the faults his knife had in the newly listed auction. I cited the loose blades, chipped bone, and liner/bone gaps. He still has it listed as "SUPER". We'll see what he has to say.

No firsthand experience necessary. We can read, and I have learned from a LIFETIME of experience to learn from the mistakes of others.

I questioned him a couple times regarding knives he had listed, and was not happy with the response I got.
That and the negative issues pertaining to him and his dad were enough for me to not deal with him...

I know nothing of this seller, but Bernie is not someone I would ever count on to comment on the substance of others. His issues are well known to many. No comment on this seller don't know him.
