SPOT sheath problems?

I remember seeing something on the forums about problems with the SPOT sheathes. If this is true, have the issues been cleared up?

Spyderco is currently designing a new sheath for the SPOT. It is unclear when it will come out.

I had to send my SPOT in, others reported no problems at all. YMMV

We've actually had very few complaints (fewer than 5), but "Think" brought out a glitch that decided needed a redesign, which we're still working on, but getting closer. I've personally carried mine every day with no problems.

It is a difficult design to sheath with the standards and features that we require. We've gotten some valuable input from a few of the custom sheath guys and we're making progress.

So if I purchased one now, and a redesigned sheath came out later, could I trade mine in, or have the option to just buy the new sheath separately?
