Spot the Boss Jack! Saved a Red Tail Hawk from a Bull Snake

Put me in the camp of "let nature take it's course" 99% of the time.

HOWEVER, this very obviously was in that 1% which was going to go on for a long time to the detriment of both critters.

Thank you for showing the best quality of our species-- kindness-- and extricating both participants from their mutual death embrace!

I've asked myself the same question. Personally, I consider myself part of nature, so I figure I was supposed to be there and I had no question at the time of what to do. They both would have died, the snake was dead as soon as it would have gotten the hawks head into its mouth. Seen it!
Much better than a human video taping a women get beaten or robbed and not doing anything about it.

Very cool. I always hate to intervene, because the hawk is food or the snake is food, or something else is food, but I’m a big softy and would rather that not happen while I’m there. I appreciate folks not just going off and killing snakes or other “undesirables” just ‘cause it exists.

We called wildlife one time because a porcupine had come into the area and there were a lot of kids around.
But after watching the so-called 'wildlife expert' stress the heck out of the poor beast then trank him, my dad
came up with a better, more humane method. It required a broom, blanket and wooden barrel. Sweep Mr.
Porky into the barrel with the broom and cover with the blanket.

Our guest would then be loaded up and driven to the nearby wildlife sanctuary and released. Some did not
wish to leave the barrel right away, but at least some idiot wasn't standing over them with a hypodermic in hand.

Yowza!!!

I just watched this for the first time!

I can't wait to show my kids this amazing video.

I have no fear of snakes but that hawk scares me to the bones!!!

Great job!

If you do this kind of thing when you're sober, I can't imagine what you must do after you've had a few!

HAHAHAHA

Let's drink!

That was GREAT! Loved it.
As for ADBrown ADBrown 's question... it would all depend on my state of mind. I believe we were put here on this earth to care for animals. All animals. Yet, I am not a vegetarian. I grew up watching nature shows that preached that we should never interfere with the natural order of things. I never agreed with them then, and don't now. I like to think I would have done the same thing if the situation were presented to me. I know I'd want to. But I will admit I don't know if I would have had the balls.

I saved a Red Tail Hawk, that bit off more than it could handle!
I’m sure the Red Tail had dinner in mind, how fast things can change, the large Bull Snake had the hawk constricted and the hawk in a death squeeze.
Freeing the hawk and that moment we both made eye contact was one of the most beautiful experiences in my life.
After freeing the hawk, I was mowing the front yard grass at the cabin, when I was finish I heard a hawk making a commotion above the yard, I walked out from under the trees, the hawk and its mate were right above me, the hawk held in one spot straight above for about 5 seconds then they both flew off. Amazing show of gratitude 💚
And I didn’t get to use my Boss Jack😆
That's one badass snake.

I think you did what needed to be done. Both animals deserved to live and both would have died if you didn't intervene. Way to be a good steward!
