I’m about 10 minutes in to the third episode of an Anime series called Spriggan, and just saw something very much like a Gerber Strongarm in a scene.

So far the show is an interesting sci-fi/horror in a realistic animation style and I recommend it to fans of “Ghost in the Shell” and similar Anime. Knives feature prominently and clearly at least one of the creators is a knife enthusiast.

Also, I’m in love/heavy like with the knife given to the protagonist in the second episode. :)

Do you have a fantasy knife?

I'm a teen of the 80's. So, as the above post states, I'd love a "First Blood" or "First Blood 2" Lile. I was also a "Commando" fan, so I'd have to add a Crain "Life Support System" to that list.

Now in my 50's, my tastes have changed ever-so-slightly. So, I've been working on a knife with Justin Gingrich for the last coupla' months. (*and probably driving him friggin' crazy) I'm hoping we'll both be on the same page with the final mock-up, within the next coupla' weeks, and I'll have my knife about two months later.

My fantasy show was the Dukes of Hazzard!!!!!! Catherine Bach in those Daisy Dukes, Bo n Luke with their Buck knives and bow and arrows with some TnT taped to the arrows!!!!!

11\10\70 was my first breath!!!

Dang, you old. Do they still let you play with knives in the nursing home?

😬 just kidding, used to watch the Dukes with my dad.

Pretty much all my Cold Steels. Kidding haha. In before we get teleported to Community Center, hahaha.

Wow, I wasn’t expecting an anime post here of all places. Now that I think about it, I’m having a difficult time recalling if there are any animes out there with prominent knife action (maybe the huge “progressive knife” in Evangelion?). They could make an awesome battle shonen out of that. With mainstream action anime, it’s usually big-ass swords, big-ass robots, katanas, laser guns, big-ass tid… bits of food.

For BF members over here, here’s my totally unsolicited but necessary recommendations list:
- Psycho Pass (just season 1)
- Steins;Gate
- Ghost in the Shell movie
- Princess Mononoke
- Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure
- Gintama (all 300+ episodes)
- 86 (currently watching this right now)
- Dr. Stone (very good science-themed show)
- Assassination Classroom (weird premise, brilliant execution all throughout)
- Spy X Family

Spriggan huh? I’ll check the show out!

For me a fantasy knife is one I want but can't find and/or afford.

As to the anime content - sorry, but I just don't get it. And before anyone says "ok Boomer", I'll just say I stopped watching cartoons at about 10 years old. Fantasizing about an anime knife (to me) equates with lusting after Yosemite Sam's revolver. I'll move on now...🤣

I think the overseer's sabre from Dishonored is quite cool:

There are some quite prominent fantasy swords from books that come to mind, but they're often so brief with their physical descriptions it's hard to conjure a recognisable visual. Which is a shame.

Thanks for this list!

I just finished JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Princess Mononoke is in my top 10 movies ever.

Will check out whichever I can get.

No toons since 10??!?

That sounds like child abuse. ;)

You might be missing some stuff you’d really like by excluding an entire medium.

I’m 50 and probably watch more animation than live action…

Big reason I wanted a 110 so bad. I remember one epsisode they used a 110 to dig out a bullet to prove two were in the same hole.

Daisy OMG! I knew I liked what I saw, but didn’t quite know why. Lol. Funny the shorts weren’t even that short and she was wearing stockings under them. Honestly I liked that she was capable of keeping up with the boys. The ultimate Tom Boy

Everyone wanted the General Lee, I wanted Daisies Golden Eagle!

Too bad about the PC crowd getting the show pulled. The reruns were great for old car watching.

How about.....Budd's Hattori Hanzo? Though I'm not into the Katana/Tanto designs much at all.
