Spring Gathering???

Might want to go ahead and get some dinner reservations for Blade too. :p
Guyon - speaking of Blade, I want to go this year. What is the hotel just across the street from the show and is there a shuttle from the airport?

Thanks Vic! But we may be Ohio bound.. BTW I have been looking unsuccessfully for an old anvil - maybe 100 lbs +/- and cheap. Not finding one on Craigs List, flea markets, junk stores etc. Any ideas on how I should go about finding one? i occasionally want to beat on some steel! ;)

Congrats on the 40 years, quite the achievement!

For anvils, check out the local towns recycling centers. That is where I find them. On the plus side, you might get by paying scrap iron prices!

I believe it's the Sheraton. I'm not sure about an airport shuttle, but I'd imagine there's one.

Any ideas for activities/seminars at the Gathering? If folks are interested in doing another grind-in, we'll need to start getting materials together ASAP.

A knife rodeo like you folks have done before would be fun, too...

You could knit together some banana peels for Fruit of the Loom. :D

Derek could do a swants seminar. Really more interpretive dance than craftsmanship, but still just as jaw dropping.

Let me know when that's scheduled, so I can be sure to not be there.

BK-9 Mumblety-peg.

I'm almost entirely certain my job would be more difficult without fingers, so I'll be skipping that one, too.

Just my two cents....as much as I enjoyed and benefited from the grind in, I know you guys had to make a major effort to pull it off. Perhaps not a full scale grind in this year but just some time to critique what "grind in graduates" (made that one up) have come up with on their own since last year

Can I say Please Gathering before March 30th? I have a weeks pto that I have to use or lose by the 30th of March.

Sure, critiquing and advising is easy. Hell, I can do that drunk :D

Everyone can do that drunk, what comes out is the question. :D

Allow me to clarify... I can indeed critique and advise about that kinda stuff while drunk or sober or sick as a dog, and it will still be helpful to folks who are looking to learn. I actually do know what the heck I'm talking about, believe it or not. ;)

In all seriousness, please let me know if I can help in some small way to make any upcoming Gathering more interesting and beneficial for everyone. I've learned a great deal at previous Gatherings, and had a whole lot of fun. I'd like to be part of paying that tradition forward.

No insult intended, you make awesome knives. I stalk knifemakers' websites. :D

No insult intended...

No offense taken.

Let's get back on track. Gatherings require a boat-load of planning and costs and travel time and gas-money and whatever-else-not for everyone involved.

The question is twofold:

Does Ethan want it to happen?

And if so (I think he probably does), what can we do to help Ethan and his mods and KA-BAR and their mods/reps
make such a Gathering worthwhile and really fun for everyone? :)
