Spring has sprung...Bluebonnets, great knives, beer and INFI dog.

Those are great photos of you and your dog. A companion of INFI-nut jest. Ugh, too corney. I've got one of those Hacts too, and I love it. You're right, a nearly perfect hunting knife. What are the scales made of on yours, they look like smoothed black micarta?

I wish I could tell ya... they appear to be 'snakeskin' micarta. But i've been wrong before. ;)

Someone should chime in and educate us both. :)

Looks like good times.

I need a NMFBM of my own. Nice looking hack as well, I might add.

I like the Camo sheaths, but I would never be able to find it if I set it down.

Great Pic's .... love the dog's saddlebag set up

Top choice too on the pairing of knives .... What are the 4 inch Hacks made from ? SR101 ? D2 ? I don't see the talon hole for them to be Infi ??? When were these released ? That small knife or it's brother would work well with my NMFBM too ....:cool:

Congratulations on the quality of your photos!! Very nicely done. Great handling of the lighting and design ... especially the composition of the first picture of Ranger in the flowers. He looks like a magnificent companion, particularly if he'll carry his own beer.

Re: HACKs for everyone. If you don't mind D2 (and Bussekin D2 is amazingly strong, as shown in the Bog Dog torture test threads), the Swamp Rat Vexillarius looks pretty similar.

Ya mean like this one! It’s awesome, melts into your hand, feels like a thick claw of some kind. The scales are green linen.

Yes, I have a Vex, and it is a great knife, but I still want one of those HACKs.
I am sure they feel a bit different than the Vex. It appears that they are thicker in the blade and the scales.

Does any kydex bender use that kind of kydex? I love that pattern.

I'm sure that Dave Brown, Steelnut or some other kydex bender could whip one up for you in no time. The camo kydex is about double the price of the 'normal' kydex though, so it may be a bit more expensive due to the makers cost of material. Shoot a PM over those guys and see what they can do for you. I'm sure they can help you out.

Thanks... dumb luck, really. I guess the light was just right.

Ranger is a bit over 18 months of age (100 lbs) and is doing fantastic. He is very obedient, and finds the furry woodland and feathered critters I shoot. Amazing nose on the dog. I've read most of Mr. Wolters books (Gun Dog, Game Dog, etc...) on dog training and highly recommend them. Good read.

They are pretty close, really. Busse's heat treatment on the D2 seems to be very good from the anecdotal evidence and user experience on this forum. Some guys have said it may even be a better slicer and hold an edge better than INFI (blasphemy... I know) :). Of course, with D2 you sacrifice the strength and chip resistance that INFI provides. Still, the vex is a great hunting sized knife and probably shouldn't be forced into batoning or severe use on a regular basis (but I may try it anyway...:))

Being slightly biased, I have used my meaner street as my primary hunting knife for the past 2 years. I've cleaned mucho whitetail and a pig or two. The damn thing just won't get dull.... ;) But... I HAVE to try out my hack and my vex(s) too. I guess I will just have to kill more critters, and maybe buy a new freezer. :)

Who made that nice sheath for the NMFBM, I like that camo, and want one of those.

Knif3buy3r

I roll my own kydex and leather. With the savings I buy more knives that I really do not need. But what does need have to do with it anyways... :) I love me some INFI. :D

Contact Dave Brown, Steelnut, Mashed-cat, or Oku. or............. anyone and they can whip one up for you in no time, I'm sure. All great guys!
