I spent the first part of the week in the smokies doing website and social media marketing photos for a friend who runs a couple of hotels up there. While I was there I spent some time on some of the trails along a few of the creeks, scouting locations and working on concept ideas for a calendar / coffee table book I'll be spending time up there this autumn working on.
The Smoky Mountains are beautiful, they are one of my favorite places to recharge and find inspiration for my photograhy work, I thought I'd share some of the pictures I took here.
There was a good bit of Lactuca Floridana
Some small critters crawling around on the leaves
There are a lot of "narrow plank bridges" that remind me of the story line behind a project I'm working on
A very old White Oak I first found over 20 years ago, the walking stick is almost 5 ft tall
A quick lunch on the way back out, before heading to another area
The rhododendrons are blooming
Long Leaf Magnolia
I found some plants I still need to identify, they have pretty flowers
There are some nice places to just sit with your feet in the water, but thw water is still pretty cold
The Mountain Laurels are blooning as well, and the emerging Monarch Butterflies love them
Then a quick snack by the still waters, before returning to work.
