For those of us that live here in the PAC Northwest; you already know. For those that don't; it's been a long damn winter. Lots of snow, and late into the year. I awoke to 1 1/2" of snow on my lawn in early April. :grumpy:

Spring is finally here and I'm just as happy as a pig in s@#$. :D Sooo, time to give stuff away. Here is what is up for grabs.

Northbay forge hook knife, and Flexcut roughing blade. The NBF hook knife is a favorite of mine, but that just makes it a better giveaway. Giving up a good tool is just the thing a maniac, fevered by spring person would do.;)

Here are the rules. You must post a picture with you doing, or have done something with wood and a edged tool. If you don't know how to post a pic, email it to me, and I'll post it for you. todrandall@gmai.com

Carving, splitting, fuzz sticks, notching, traps, spears, or whatever you have made, or destroyed. Post it here, and I'll use the random # site to pick the winner. Well go to May 16th for you to post your picture. I'll have the # by the 17th.

Good luck and look forward to the pictures. Here is a pic of the knives.

Cool idea for a giveaway! Wouldn't you know that I just yesterday bought a NBF hook knife after reading your review. I'm hoping it arrives by next weekend for a camping trip. I'm itching to try my hand at a spoon. I'm just about sick of letter openers and ball-in-cages :)

Edit: Gah, I just realized that posting non-entries will screw up your random number generation. Sorry about that.

Jim keeps his stock in good order, and ships pretty fast. I'd bet you'll have it by then. You're gonna love it. It's double sided so really, it's the only one you will need. Watch out..... it's VERY sharp. Keep a close eye on your fingers on pull cuts.;) Congrats......

very cool todd... thanks man... i wouldn't mind having one of those nifty tools...:D

here's my contribution... i don't know if it counts or not, i don't do much carving these days.. other than fuzz stick, which aren't that great....:o

That's a good one Mike!

Have to find a decent picture...

Edited to add:
This poor pic has been around the track a few times, but I still dig it:

That counts Mike. Good, bad, ugly, sad, and everything in between counts.

If you carved the statue of David out of teak, or whittled a notch out of balsa wood, they all count. :D

Nice work BTW........

after looking through all my pics i am sad that i don't have more of knives in action. i will have to get out and take some more pics.

This is all that i have for now.

Thanks for the contest.

So you all know, you don't need to have an "in action" pic. It can be a pic of ANYTHING you did with wood and a blade. Even if it is just a pic of your project, or the aftermath of you batoning a Busse through a 600' tree.

Hey thanks for the contest.

My current project...Canoe Paddle in Maple and Poplar.

First pic is the glueing up.

Second is the major tools I've used...Spoke Shave, Sanding Block, and Buck Mini Alpha Hunter used as a scraper...that Bos Heat treat ATS-34 is the real deal...haven't rolled an edge yet.

Thanks for the contest.

Beautiful work Jenner. Have you made others? A paddle is on my list of things to tackle at some point.

Well done!

Sounds like fun. I would love to have some real carving blades. Here's a mink carved in black walnut.

Thanks for the contest.

No this is my first...I did do the Adirondack chairs in the background...those didn't require any carving though.

The paddle needs alot more shaping and thinning...although I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Awesome idea for a give away, and mighty generous of you. I used to make topwater plugs out of Balsa wood for my friends, maybe this will get me back in to it.
