Signs of spring are definitely in the air now, trees are in bloom and more animals are stirring.

Just that the fruit of this plant is still around from last summer, with all of the wildlife we have here, is a good clue that you should not eat it.

I drove up on the mountain yesterday, it was the first day that all of the jeep trails were once again opened on Prentice Cooper and I could get farther away from the main roads. It seems I wasn't the only one waiting on that day.

The green is slowly returning, but the canopy is still open.

Lots of pools of water after days of rain.

Life Force did a high-speed, low altitude pass.

I got my first really good taste of S30V, and I like what I am seeing. I suppose I should thank Esav for turning me on to this one.

It was a fun day out, I'm glad my woods will soon be green again :)

Not sure I like coated stainless blades but I like that knife overall a lot. Thanks for the pics.

Great early spring shots, mistwalker!
Flowers, birds, bugs. All of them so nice and beautiful.
Thanks for sharing!

Great stuff as usual buddy, love the new blade as well...is it the DART ?

The spring isn't much showing here yet, but the feeling is definitely out there. Good looking blade, too. Never saw it before.. although I don't browse around TOPS knives that much. I have went there more since I saw that Power Eagle review though.

Can't wait for full blown Spring now. (Besides the bugs)

very cool post and pics as always. spring is starting to spring here too. i can't wait. i was out messing around today and realized i have 5 rhubarb sprouts about 3 inches tall. yummm can't wait for rhubarb applesauce :)

mist about that knife. how does that handle feel with prolonged use. it looks like it might be a bit on the aggressive side but maybe its just the pictures.

Great pics Mist! Still waiting for for spring over here, allthough the trees are showing some signs. Maybe the 60F temps today will help!

Nice work with that knife. Did you do anything to the edge, or is that factory?

Beautiful pics! I love spring. Thanks for sharing.

That kind of threw me for a loop as well. Why bother with a coating when you have one of the more corrosion resistant steels, and your knife is made to be a user?

We hit 70oF today and the spring peepers were peeping. Super warm and wet out there but no green stuff yet, even the tree buds show no signs of swelling so far.

I don't usually like recurve blades, but on that knife the grind and recurve seem to compliment one another rather nicely. Looks like a stout knife.

Thanks fellas, glad you enjoyed the post. It's interesting to see the timeline in which spring arrives in different parts of the world.

The knife is TOPS D.A.R.T which was designed for the Downed Aircraft Recovery Teams, so the coating is for controlling reflectivity. The edge is still the factory edge and I am really pleased with how it is doing. This knife can be gotten with the RMT handle scales seen here or with the regular micarta handle scales, in fact I'm pretty sure it comes standard with the other scales, I requested the RMT when I put in the order.

ahhhhh... that makes sense. I don't generally think in tactical terms, so reflectivity didn't occur to me as a bad thing. The first thing I think when I see a dark coated blade and cryptic handle slabs is "I'll never find that again when I drop it."

Thanks for the info!

Mist, I swear, you and my wife . . . . First day we have had sunshine in 11 days, it's over 50*, the first day she has had some energy for awhile, & what do I catch her doing this afternoon . . . . . . bent over our flower bed with her Canon trying to take a close-up of the flowers w/ the bee's in them that are already blooming. An hour later, then she wants to know why her back is killing her . . . .
Good shots once again, looks like my diet has a chance starting the spring season with your posts . . .
Glad you got out, hope you enjoyed the time.
Be safe.

mist as always great pics with fantastic content. not sure nonreflective blade finishes are big deal when cutting out of an aluminum aircraft but if blade cuts well no big deal. is this a newer direction for Tops since most is their excellent 1095? thanks---dennis

Thanks Dennis, lol, I imagine it is on the "to and from" that the reflections could become an issue. Could be that Trace and TOPS just wanted to try something different, but I have seen some of the swampy areas the guys from AFSOC train in down around Hurlburt Field. Playing around in the same type of areas around Tampa Bay and down in the glades I can see where really good corrosion resistance could be a good thing. I am a bit surprised they don't offer a 1095 version though.
