I got a Compact less than 2 years ago and was very excited. Soon the leaf spring for the scissors got bent to the right so that it's not even in contact with the scissor handle. When I try to use the scissors, the spring just pokes me.
Is this something that happens lately? I was very disappointed.

Push/twist the top of the spring back in place.
I have the same issue on my Hercules pliers (same spring as the scissors) and occasionally the spring on my Huntsman's scissors.
When the spring misbehaves, I just move it back to where it should be. (To me) Not a big deal.
Changing the spring? I don't have the punch to remove or re-install the spring.

An alternative if you have the budget is find the WENGER equivelent model. The WENGER scissors uses the backspring, not a "v" spring.

Lately? It's been happening since the 1970s to my certain knowledge.

What Jack said above. This has been an issue for decades. They sell replacements that are easy to install. A broken spring is almost as common as a lost toothpick.

I never understood why when they purchased wenger they didn't abopt the far superior scissor spring system that came with the company.

I had a spring break on a 15 year old Super Tinker. I used those scissors once a week on my fingernails. It finally broke one day. The whole knife was beyond its lifespan at that time. Poor me, I had to buy a new knife!

I’ve tried many times to push and twist the spring back in place. It takes a while to get it back in place, so I use it once. The next time I open it, it’s out of place again.
I’ll consider replacement springs. Actually I always liked the Wenger scissors better for how they cut.

I've always likened the scissor spring on a Victorinox to tires on a car ...... the car's built for the long haul, but the tires have to be replaced from time to time.

I used to replace the springs myself, but luckily a Victorinox brand store opened up nearby. Recently, the spring on my son's main EDC SAK broke. I took it to the store to buy a new spring ...... the super friendly staff there installed it, and didn't even charge me! 🇨🇭
