Spring steel?

Ok i have a lot of both coil- and leafsprings available and i just wanted to know
what kinds of steel they normally are made of, before i start forging it!
i have heard that leaf springs are somewhat similar to 5160 is that correct?
and coil-springs are somewhat similar to 1095 also is this correct?
if not what are they similar to?

Your best bet is going to be to find someone with an analyzer and have them test a sample. your local Fastenal should be able to do it. Call for pricing.
