Spring Tempering A-2?

What temps do you guys temper A-2 at for a good spring? And what color? Blue like O-1?

Hmmm good question. Ive never tried it for a spring. Try it and report back.

I draw it at 1000f first. Then check the hardness. I try to get my springs to 50 rc. Usually between 1000-1100 gets it. Increase temp 25 degrees untill its where I want it. A2 should be drawn at temp 2 times for 2 hours. Sorry I never payed much attention to the colors.

Temper colors are surface oxides and only apply to simple carbon steel (350-600F). At 1000-1100F you aren't going to see colors that mean anything.
