sprint run persian

In light of a comment Sal made over on the Spyderco Factory Forum a couple days ago, it sounds like a sure thing. Just a question of what the scales and steel will be, and when it will arrive.

cant wait for this one....if it comes. Persian is a great EDC pattern and good fit in the hand.

I'm definitely in on this. The Persian is my favorite Spydie!

Do you know if it will be screw construction?
God I hope not!

Different scale material is a certainty. Sal's comment was that they're testing several for shrinkage at the moment, so don't think a final decision on exactly what it will be has been made yet. My guess, and it's only a guess, is the only other change might be the blade steel, but I'd rate even that as a relatively low probability. I seriously doubt there will be any major design changes, especially one which would seriously change the esthetics of the knife.

Has the pin construction had any problems in the past? Have the pins been known to loosen? This could be a deal breaker.

I have a mini Persian and have carried it off and on for almost 2 years. No problems with the pins.

I carry and use my C83 almost every day for about four years, so far no problem with pins or anything else. Plenty of scratches and wear, but this is it.

Very excited about the C83 coming back. :D
I hope the handle material doesn't end up being FG G10. :p

Word on the street is micarta. Could be bone but most likely micarta.

That would be great. They can keep it the same as the original for all I care.
I just want a couple of these babies this time around. :D

None of mine have. Even the two that have been opened thousands of times are still tighter than the proverbial duck's nether regions. Definitely not "flickable", so most "tactical" people would probably complain they're too tight.

No problem if you decide to pass though. Darn things may be sold out already. Definitely won't be enough to go around, even just among those of us who prefer their knives pinned. ;) :D

It's unlikely that I'll pass. It was more of a bluff to get Sal to put screws in. I know they'll sell out quickly no matter what. I would prefer screws though. I don't see the advantage to pins.

Pins provide a nice clean look.
My Kris dveloped side to side blade play from loosened pins, but two pieces of pine and a dead-blow hammer fixed it all up.:)
There's a way to fix just about any problem.
It hasn't loosened since.

Deacon,

Is it realy true you cannot flick the persian, are they that tight? never handled one myself.
