And this isn't so much as a sprint request but an idea. The sage series seems to be very popular, and I know the request for spyderco to have a custom shop is made regularly. What about a modular knife series? I realize this could be an engineering nightmare, or even maybe an impossibility to achieve the level of fit and finish that Spyderco is known for. But I'm thinking a knife frame that has interchangable blades. Then different blade steels could be brought out, different handle materials, different colors, materials, etc. At the very least add a small amout of customization. The current ladybug comes in five colors FRN (green, black, foilage, yellow, and purple.) (plus neon orange and Tan in the county comm versions) and three different blade steels. (H1, VG-10, and ZDP) I love the zdp version...and I love the purple color. (If my purple one was screw construction I would have already switched the blade.) I think the Delica would be a natural for this. Already several colors and two blade steels available. add another blade steel or two and let the customer order one mixed to his or her desire. The para 2, or Native 5 might be a better platform because of more steel options available on the American made models. Just a thought.
