Is the new police and Mill in S30v a sprint run like the Lum Chinese is?

I'm a returning college student at the moment and I missed out on the D2 millitary because they were all gone by the time I could get one. I have seen what they are going for on the bay.:grumpy:
I was really wanting one of these.

I'd hate to miss out again with the police and s30v mill.

Thanks..

S90V is a thought.

What's the big difference between S30V and S90v. I'm not talking about composition. I'm talking about sharpening and edge holding. My S30v knife is really sweet, but I like to try different steels. My ZDP189 Endura with a Krien flat grind is the only knife I have that doesn't get put into EDC rotation. It's always in my left pocket while a bunch of other knives get rotated in my right front and rear pockets.

Thanks for the imput.

I wish I knew that D2 Mill was a sprint run I would have one in my pocket right now.:grumpy:

Crucible's CPM-S90V is an ultimate stainless exotic. 9% Vanadium is a chemical wonder.

Slow to sharpen though. Like all steels, there are always trade-offs.

S90V has very, very high wear resistance. It will hold an edge for a loooooong time. There's a member here who uses his to cut drywall, and he said he can still shave hair at the end of the day. I believe its corrosion resistance is also very good.

It sounds appealing to me :)

I had a hard enough time sharpening S60V. ZDP-189 is a bit easier to sharpen and seems to hold an edge forever. I still think S30V is the best compromise; easy to sharpen and holds a good edge for a long time, with VG-10 not that far behind.

S90v looks really good. I don't find ZDP189 hard to sharpen at all, but I usually have a utility type edge that will shave instead of a polished edge. S90V with the high Vanadium and carbon would seem to hold a polished edge really well.

I have to ask. Is the S90v Military a sprint run?

Thanks for the imput. S90v may make me forget about missing out on the foliage D2.

Yes the C36CF90VP Military is/was a SprintRun in 2008, carbon fiber handles, CPM S90V blade steel, ~ 1000 pieces.

The S90V Milli can still be found (at bargain prices, even) if you look around. A certain pharmacy even has the CF/BG-42 version, which is very well loved by those who have it.

BG-42 is another great steel. A stainless ball bearing steel, VIM VAR, very refined, and a good chemistry. Hard to manufacture though.

I've read that diamonds work well on the S90V. But I think I've also read that plain old carborundum stones work too. Anyone tried carborundum on their S90V Millie?

The Sharpemaker works great with zdp189. I spray WD40 on the mediums and I can get a alternating burr with every stroke of the blade. I have to spray wd40 to keep the Sharpemaker stones from loading up with steel, but they cut great with it.

Don't know about s90v, but I would guess it would be similar.

Having trouble finding a S90v Military everyone seems sold out. Any suggestions? After starting this thread I am sold on the s90v Military. Tell me where to get one and I will.

Thanks! This thread has made me make up my mind.

This will be my 2nd Spyderco, but not the last I'm sure.:D

I use that on, well most of mine. I have a two sided carborundum with coarse and medium used with light almost no pressure. then I switch to ceramics to polish it out.
