Spud Gun Ignition ?? What do you use ??

Had a buddy that shot Rutabagas. They hit much harder than potatoes. Also used an aluminum sleeve that he would hammer them through to size them.

Yeah guys, they are fun,Iv'e used them to,BUT be careful.A guy in my town had the cap blow off,it hit him in the midsection and he died from internal injuries.Keep the gun to the side when shooting, the pvc deteriorates pretty bad---not trying to spoil your fun--ps he had two small kids---Butch

I use a flint and wheel from a lantern as well. It works a lot better than the grill igniter I was using previously. I use Aqua net hairspray for propellant.

I use a BBQ lighter (for the clicky electric spark) wired to two screws inside the chamber. The spark between the screws works fine most of the time but during cold weather it loses reliability, also after aerasole layers the screws it sparks less.

Thats really unfortunate :( Especially to die from a blow such as that.

I always warn my friends to shoot to the side. One time i didn't warn a friend, he shot it with the base sitting on his him and bruised himself. But honestly its pretty common sense not to put something with recoil in front of you.

Hey Guys....

What...

That's why I don't use hairspray.. Gums up the ignition too much..
Propane is cheap as hell and burns clean...

I use deodorant which is not as gummy as hairspray but still does cause dirtyness. I guess i just use whats easily accessible for me hahaha

My spud guns have all been the pneumatic variety. No muss, no fuss. No fireball either, but all the ballistic prowess.

We always ground the end of the barrel to a sharp taper . That way went forcing the sup down the barrel it would cut it to a tight perfect fit.
