Spy deco Domino vs. ZT 566?

While I love Spydercos (I've got about 20), between the 566 and Domino I went with the 566. It is THE folder I was waiting all year for. The Domino's shape and scale pattern do nothing for me.

I've had both. I traded the Domino and kept the 566. It's become a frequent carry folder by now. I like the straight edge profile and longer cutting edge on the 566. I like the assist on this model, and I like the resistance that I have to overcome to close the blade. I don't carry knives with free-moving blades. Mine came centered and at just under 50% lockup. No h/v blade play. Ready to go right out of the box.

I'm fonder of SS than I am of titanium and I like the weight of the 566. I don't use pocket clips, so that doesn't matter to me. This is the first experience I've had with Elmax. Honestly, I don't really care about the blade steel as long as it's a ZT. I buy the overall knife and probably give less weight to the blade steel than most people here on BF. ZT is going to use steel that works fine for me in whatever they make. The G10 is nicely done and the F&F on mine is fine. I haven't seen any other company put out what I think is a better value at this price point.

Never heard of the Domino before this thread. Will make it harder for me to buy a 0566 now...yikes.

I would prefer something other than elmax for the 566, but until they release some different variants of the knife it will suffice. I would really like to see the 566 in S30, or some other steel. I have to sharpen my 566 every week but am not complaining about it, I really like the size of the 566, it really is the perfect EDC size.

Yeah, I would like to see the 566 with some other steel like s35vn or s110v.

By looking at the comparison pics, I almost think I like the blade shape of the 566 better than the Domino! :)

S35 would be a good choice for this knife. I much prefer the blade shape of the 566 to the domino but the FFG on the domino wins when it comes to precision slicing. I use my 566 hard and am finding that I need to put it on a fine stone and a strop every week. I am thinking of re-profiling the blade to see if that would help its edge retention.

Elmax does seem to get better after a sharpening or three. That was the case with my 560. My 801 is better out of the box than the 560 was. But it's not as good as my 560 is now. ELMAX is funny.

I prefer the manual flipping action on the Domino, but you can de-asist the ZT and it has a detent. I think the Domino looks better and it has a finer grind. I think the ZT is more robust with a thicker blade stock and is not as delicate.
