Spyderco 2024 vol. 15 Reveal

Wow, Techno 3, very nice.

Agreed. A definite improvement in terms of looks than prior versions. The design of the clip as pictured is pretty unique too.

I also like the addition of the flipper but it's still to small for me to consider buying at the MAP price of $300 or the 60% OpFocus price of $240 based on the currently stated MSRP of $400. 🤷‍♂️

See: Spyderco Techno 3

But if I can pick one up for less than $240 on the rebound on the Exchange (after it's actually released), I'll definitely consider it. ;)

I am really excited to see a Stretch XL in FRN and upgraded steels, especially K390. I'm not familiar with CTS-PD#1 and am curious to know more about it. Everything I have read says it's basically an upgraded D2 that my be more tough and corrosion resistant.

I did think that flipper tab was pretty small, and my experience with Spyderco flipper action was not great, but it is handsome. Looks more like a Sinkevich ZT design than a Slysz one, though...

I think the Temperance Lightweight looks interesting, and seems priced fairly.

ETA: also liking the Techno 3!

I believe CTS-PD#1 is just Carpenter's version of CPM-Cruwear.

^^^^ this. A Police in Cruwear sounds great, I wish it had liners though,

Guess what? The FRN Police 4 has nested, skeletonized steel liners. If you want full liners, that's a different ask.

And yes, PD-1 is Carpenter Steel's version of Cruwear. At least in the Mule Team, PD-1 performed just as well for me as Cruwear after the recall/re-heat treat/reissue.

Does the XL Stretch also have nested liners?

Yes. I want full liners and a steel backspacer …. much like my Pakawood and G10 copies. I’d rather loose a pound myself, than a few grams on a knife :)
Yeah that only puts it an ounce heavier than the lightweight model. But getting over 5 oz is when I start to notice a knife. Yeah I also could lose a pound or two but that doesn't change when a knife flips around in the pocket too much and becomes annoying. Had to sell my thic ZT 0200 because even though I loved that knife at 8 oz that definitely was the upper limit for edc and it was always very noticable in the pocket after switching to it when carrying the slim police 4 lightweight the day before!

I own a lot of Spyderco flipper knives and haven't had a problem using any of them but there's always a 1st time but that possibility wouldn't prevent me from buying a Techno 3 for the "right" price.

It just wouldn't be a priority for me because of the small size of the knife & the fact that I already own many other small Spyderco flippers like the: Hanan, Positron & Southard, as well as the 3 knife Mantra Ti/CF flipper set.

And because I like to buy & complete generational & variational sets of Spyderco models, I'd also be more inclined to buy the Techno 3, if I liked & already owned the Techno 1 & 2 but I don't. 🤷‍♂️

I’m tempted by the Rex 121 Sage 5. But I suspect future me will do a lot of cursing when sharpening time eventually comes around.

Looking forward to the Temperance fixed blade sprint run. I have an original Temperance that I've used hard over the years. It's a great design.
