For regular pocket carry, I'd recommend something on the order of the size of the Caly 3 (laminated ZDP189) or a Sage 1 (both S30V).
I have the Caly 3, but not the Sage 1. These are all with 3" blades. The Caly 3 has a ZDP core, but is laminated with a softer outer stainless. It should be just the ticket for a smaller knife than the Tenacious and usefullness.
For a smaller knife in S30V and a comfortable pocket carry, the Chaparral can't be beat (just over 2 3/4" blade).
A knife that I picked up for possible use when fishing is the Stretch in VG10. It is a good size, with a 3 1/2" blade, but it is about the size of the Tenacious.
I often use fixed blades for fishing, but also like the convenience of pocket carry.
Most pocket knives in the Spyderco line will come with stainless steel blades, and stainless may not be as tough as high carbon steel.
I haven't broken the tip off of a blade in more than 40 years (way more). If you throw them into dirt, you can break the tip on rocks.
If you pry with the tip, you can break it off. If you want a "tough" stainless blade, then avoid knives with very high carbon steel like ZDP-189 or any blades with a slender, fine pointy tip.
If I were looking for a knife with a tough blade and some stain resistance, I'd consider something in D2, like the Enzo Birk. These are not easy to find. I'd also prefer a
lockback for fishing, and a stainless blade in something like S30V or VG10. You can't break the tip off a Spyderco when cleaning a fish, unless you do it on a concrete block and really try to damage the knife.
