If you can see into the pivot area with a flashlight, brass cage bearings are CQI, plastic are the original. Info on that in this Spyderco Byte issue https://mailchi.mp/spyderco/spyderco-byte-january-2018?e=963d2ec1ef. From your box date code (2016) it is probably pre CQI

It's pre-cqi. I'll take it, but at a much lower price. Unfortunately the washers dish out on these models.
