The 17th Spyderco Amsterdam Meet was a blast, thank you for your patience for my report with photos of some of the upcoming Spyderco production samples.

Apart from meeting Eric, Lisa and Peter from the Spydercrew and getting a look at the new concept models, prototypes and production sample, it was great to see so many familiar faces again. It’s nice to see how this hobby binds so many of us. Thank you to all who attended, for bringing your enthusiasm and making it a great gathering. And of course, many thanks to the Spydercrew for hosting this awesome event!

The day started with a presentation by Eric, in which he presented each and every one of the new designs that are in various stages of development. I’m guesstimating he brought about 60 new models. I could identify roughly 3 stages of development: a concept model (often a custom piece from a designer), a prototype (the first stage of adapting the concept into a production model), and a production prototype (the knife now looks almost identical to the final production version). I could photograph and post a few of the upcoming production samples, many of which are likely to appear in the next Reveal catalog.

Please note, I have no information about the availability or pricing of these knives and products. For some of the models that haven’t been revealed yet, I took rudimentary measurements, none of which should be considered ‘catalog-correct’. Any mistakes or deviations etc… are mine. Basically, when it comes to these photographs, videos and measurements; I’m a fan – not an expert. 😉

I’ll post the first batch of content momentarily, and I’ll add more to this thread in the coming days.

Military 2 CPM-15V – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2024
Last year, Spyderco introduced many of us to CPM-15V for the first time. Spyderco launched limited runs of the Paramilitary 2 and Shaman in 2023, working with Shawn Houston -a.k.a. Big Brown Bear- who shared his heat treat protocol to bring out the best of this steel. Apparently, this first foray into 15V went well, because Spyderco plans to produce many different models from their US factory in this steel that I believe are planned as regular production. Up first in this report, is the Military 2 in CPM-15V.

Manix 2 Lightweight CPM-15V – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2024
The Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight will also be made with a CPM-15V blade and signature brown handle. It will be announced officially in the upcoming Reveal number 15. Reveal 15  15V… If only this was the 15th edition of the Spyderco Amsterdam meet. I’m glad it’s not though 😉

Fun fact, to me at least, veteran Spyderco crewmember Lisa came up with the name Manix many years ago.

MicroJimbo CPM-15V – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2024
The MicroJimbo was unveiled last year and I think they recently started shipping. This is likely the second variation of the MicroJimbo (after the all-black version), in CPM-15V and brown G10. It too, if I understood correctly, will be made in regular production.

Para 3 Lightweight CPM-15V – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2024
The 15V trend continues with the Para 3 Lightweight! I love the Para 3 design, and I’m sure I’ll have extra room in my collection to add this one.

Para 3 CPM-15V – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2024
If you don’t like the Para 3 lightweight in CPM-15V, and you prefer a little more heft and that peel-ply handle texture, then perhaps this version in G-10 is for you.

Lil’ Native CPM-15V – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2024
The last of the CPM-15V Spyderco Production Samples I can share is the wonderful Lil’ Native. Personally, prefer the lockback version, but I realize market majority prefers the compression lock version. It’s all good, and I can still switch the clip on this lil’ big knife for left-handed carry 😉.

was it mentioned if the manix 2 in 15v was also going to be offered in beautiful g10? Or the g10 15v shaman would be offered again?
I do not remember if that was the case. Knowing Spyderco, if a new Shaman in 15v would be offered, they'll likely make some changes to not devalue the previous sprint run.

Great pics! Lots of 15v. Is it that amazing? I haven’t tried 15v but it must be something special for Spyderco to use this much. I’m more of a stainless guy and 3v for fixed blades. Anyone mind sharing experiences with 15v?

I love my 15v paramilitary2. Does spyderco offer a credit card like when you walk in cabelas? I'm going to eventually be buying at least two of those knives

That para 3 lw I was thinking ok, maybe the lightweight version could retire my delica as my work knife. Then you show me the g10 version. I'm as good as sold.

It's pretty cool to see, spyderco tried out the 15v last year with a few sprints, and must have loved the results, because they're fully invested. Man this is exciting. I guess I can consider myself one of the steel nerd type knife guys at this point. But I do feel like we're living in the golden age of knives. Stuff like this was probably dreamed about for centuries.
