Spyderco. and my life

Welcome to the forum Jim-D. My wife was telling me the other day that the clothes dryer was not working anymore. I saw her lips moving, but all I could think about was the Delica 4 I was going to pick up the next day. I guess you could say we suffer from kind of the same thing.

I'm a bit lucky here. My gf is not into knives, but she makes an effort to get to know them. She use to carry a Bm 556 in her purse but never on her person. So I bought her a Spyderco Cricket and its on her 80% of the time! Just last night, she asked me if I was going to get the green one (D2 Para) I liked when I work for the gunshow this weekend! She even offers to buy me knives that I really whine about and talk about non stop! :D

Hi Jim,

Welcome to the Spyxerco forum. I hope your time here is pleasant.

Life is often choice.

As you travel through your life, you think that you have control of your life. But as time goes on, one realizes more and more that it is outside influences that control you. The demands of responsibility, family, job, health and society more often than not, dictate your path.

In reality, you are more like a leaf floating in the ocean, a victim of wind and wave. In the end, you only thing that you really have control of is your attitude. If you have a good attitude, you will have a good day and a good life, a bad attitude, the reverse is also true. The goal is to always maintain a good attitude.

I've been giving myself a pity-party since turning sixty earlier this week. In reality, I am really blessed. No, I didn't get wondrous and expensive gifts and tons of cards. I did get a lunch today from my older son - and some cash to buy another knife. More importantly, on my birthday, my loving bride presented me with a knife I already had one of - a Spydie Native in S30V from the local Wally World. She gave me the first one, 6/07, and was with me when I checked on their stock earlier this summer, after hearing they would not be stocked any more. That knife was my favorite EDC - a spare - especially at the <$40 price - would be great. My only other Spyderco product, a Sharpmaker, was having a time re-edging my original Native. Of course, the store was already out - she had rushed up there and bought me a spare!

A $40 knife is not a huge deal to some - but the thought - and action - made it priceless to me. And, Sal, your company had a hand in it! Thanks for the S30V Natives - and the Sharpmaker. Now... to find another one to spend some cash on...

Gee, Mr. Glesser, I didn't know you and Mr. Miyagi has so much in common.

I think you should call your favorite disciple "Cricket".

I want to be "Dragonfly".
