I am looking for a fixed blade river knife that can be carried vertical, tip up and is secure within its sheath and can be secured to a PFD lash tab. I am considering the Benchmade 100SH20 and the Spyderco Aqua Salt. The Benchmade has a kydex sheath with a lash tab attachment. Is the Spyderco Aqua Salt, or Caspian sheath lash tab compatible?

Here is a picture of a PFD with a lash tab (the lash tab is the black, square tab on the upper right side of this PFD)

For that particular use I would go with the benchmade. I own both, and would never part with either, but only the BM comes with a lash tab clip. Also the Spydie is considerably longer overall and might be awkward mounted like that.

Thanks Bill. I didn't consider the length until you mentioned it; the Spyderco might be awkwardly long.

Hate to admit it but yeah, the Aqua would be awkward in any direction on that lash tab. Even straight up, the handle would poke you in the chin if you were sitting, side to side either the handle or the sheathe blade would hit your left arm, and handle down would be worse that handle up.

How about a Spyderco Salt series folder? I'm getting a sheath for my Tasman salt almost specifically for that same purpose.

Would work great, especially in a kydex sheath made by someone like

What a great site. I was limited to knives with sheaths, now my options are limitless. I already sent him an e-mail. Now, I have to decide which Spyderco; Pacific Salt or Salt 1? I would like to see Spyderco make a partially serrated model.

Anyone actually own that knife yet? Looks interesting. I'd like to see a review and some in hand pictures before I jump on another knife.

Saving for the Ti millie ya know. :D

Aren't we all? And the Rock Lobster. And the Chokwe. And the Sage II. and...
