Spyderco ATR Titanium Question

I have a question. On the titanium ATR lock bar inside the scale there is a "raised button". I am not sure what else to call it. The button is centered on the middle of the lock bar blade when viewing it from the top. I only have the TI ATR so I am not sure if it is present on the SS versions too. Anyone know the function of this or why its there. I am not referring to the ball dentent. Thanks

I posted this over at the Spyderco Webpage Forum, but will post it here as well to see if anyone here knows.

I don't know about the Ti ATR, but the SS has a screw on the inside of the lockbar to prevent overtravel. I assume the Ti version does as well.

Thanks for the reply, I am sure this is the answer. On the TI model there is no visible screw hole on the outside of the lockbar. Is there a visible hole on the SS version. I did not take the knife apart to examine the "button" to see if it was a button cap screw.

I just checked, and yes, there is.

While visiting a friend who has several ATR Ti's, we were looking them over in response to your question when we discovered something else that's interesting. His early cc numbered one has blind stop pin screws whereas his later versions have a visible screw on the non lockbar side.

Would not surprise me at all. Spyderco is famous for "tweaking" designs between batches, and with US made knives in particular changes can be made quite quickly. Mine is not numbered, but has a blind stop pin, no screw head visible from either side.

I think it was mentioned before that the Ti model has the "button" pressed in, while the SS model has an actual screw (& associated threaded hole).
