Does anyone know if spyderco has ever made any automatics or automatic versions of any of their knives, or is there any aftermarket autos from anywhere? (I think an auto Native would be great)

Thanks!
Phil

I've seen pictures of an auto from Blade posted a few times. It's one that you can turn the auto on or off or something like that, I believe.

Its dual action. You can manually open it using the thumb hole or you can push the button for auto opening. Pretty cool IMO and its a very nice looking knife. I hope it sees production.

I was under the impression that Spyderco was attempting to overturn the anti auto law of their location. Otherwise it will not happen.

Perhaps circumstances have changed?

Can't they make it at Seki and ship it over? I've played with Al Mar autos, so it doesn't seem like a huge hurdle...

It's illegal to import autos because of the federal ban. You could have the parts made in Seki but the knife would have to be assembled here. I'm not saying autos don't get imported, but you take the chance of customs seizing the shipment.

Anyone other than blade done any auto conversions or has anyone done any for commercial sale (like people do with buck 110s).

Thanks
Phil

I wonder if the autos are available to general public in countries where they are legal? Like here for example? If yes, then I would not wait a minute to buy this one:

The pic posted by David, is the one I took at the Amsterdam Meet last weekend. At that venue Sal did tell us that they would want to make a second model with a shorter blade for countries like Holland and Germany. More pics of the full automatic Citadel and double action Samaritan, can be seen here.

Wouter,

Thanks for the link and great photographs. Forget the autos, the pics of the ZDP/CF Caly 3 have me anxiously anticipating their arrival. I hope to be driving down to the Factory Outlet very soon to obtain one.

I hope they come out with a manual Samaritan. Damn fine looking knife that I won't ever be able to own, thanks to where I live.

I don't really care where (I'm guessing it must be in USA to get S30V) but I MUST MUST MUST know when!

Thank you for the link and excellent pictures. I found this particular picture on another forum and brought it here hoping to get more info.
