Before i start this thread i must say that i cannot comment on any spyderco's quality since i do not own one.

I went to the spyderco factory outlet today after i purchased my first car, (golden CO).

I went in at about 4:30 pm and took a look at some awesome knives, the first thing i notice is a family of 4, who had a father and a son talking to a sales person about the kids first knife, not to mention there were two other sales people behind the counter pretending to be engaged in the conversation.

One more disclaimer, I work in sales and know just about all there is to know about customer service.

Since all three sales people were occupied, me and my Dad bummed around looking at some stuff. Eventually one of the sales people broke off and came and talked to us after i loudly said "I WANT A MILITARY".
He took out the Ti military and i fondled it a bit. At almost exactly 5:00 the only other family was still looking at cheap $40- $50 knives while i was ready to spring on the $300 military and when i closed the sale for him (he never asked for the sale), he flat out told me they were closed.

I looked at him and said "isn't that lady over there on the register?", and he said "yes but she is closing down".

I left unhappy and just bought a ZT0566 off of blade hq and am glad I did.

Sorry if you think this is an unreasonable post or i am just a pissed off customer who is exaggerating the truth.

Thanks for reading and not leaving a stupid comment about how you think I am full of bs and have not discovered the wonders of spyderco yet.

Yes, it was lousy customer service. But just because a sales person is an a$$ it doesn't stop me from buying the product. the best judge of a product is the consumer. If I go to look at a new car I do it when the dealership is closed. I do my own homework to determine what product I want at what price. That being said I have personally never had any issues with Spyderco quality or price. I have never had to use their customer service so I can't comment on that. YMMV.

Too bad that you have such a bad experience. The way I look at it, give Spyderco another chance and buy one of their knives. It's one of the grunts that pissed you off, and that's not a good reason to skip future Spydercos. If it was Sal or Eric then it's much more understandable.

Sounds like you had an unpleasant experience with unmotivated and uncaring sales staff. I understand where you're coming from.

Their knives are often fantastic, thankfully, and you got an outstanding knife as a result of what happened. Enjoy the 0566!

I once had a bad boss, so automatically that makes my company suck...

One day my old boss got fired and my new boss is cool, now my company is awesome!!!

Hmm, A ZT0566 from a Ti Millie is a bit of a downgrade if you ask me. But, to each his own.
Don't judge all of Spyderco Knives by the attitude of one sales rep.

Yeah, I would be disappointed too. Sadly, good customer service is quickly becoming a lost art. Congrats on the new car and ZT, new car day is always fun, and the 566 is great knife.

Minimum wage = Minimum effort

As the others have suggested, don't paint the entire company with the same brush as you've painted that employee. I'm sure that once Sal gets wind of this he'll be having a talk with said employee. In all my forum experiences, reading Sal's posts here, as well as on other forums, he's always seemed to be a very gracious, customer focused man.

I agree that it is a downgrade and i really did love the Ti millie and g10 version, but i also had my eye on the 0566 and decided that if i couldn't get the military i would get the 0566.

There are always two sides to a story. I'd like to hear their side before passing judgement.

So let's give a company a bad rep, even though you are willing to go back...

People these days...
Can't make em' happy...

Sorry bud, I have not crossed them off my list, I will go back at a different time and see if I can't get a good experience out of them.

I know there have been days for me when I have been working with a customer for a while after closing and may have been short with them.

And thank you for the sarcasm.

I don't see why putting something that happened out in the open is a bad thing, especially when the consumer is willing to let said company make it right with future trips to the store. Of course it doesn't speak necessarily to the quality of he product, merely the quality, or lack thereof, in customer service.

My point exactly...

Should I bash your company because I had a bad experience with you? Or should I think rationally before I go on a public forum and say bad things about a large company that has many divisions of employees?

Yes. I would and did, if you wish to call it bashing and not stating the facts.

Thank you for you're input but I do not wish to continue this argument.
