Sorry, I didn't mean to speak for you. I was just guessing as to what you meant. I still stand by you and anyone voicing your opinion, and not being shut down for it. While I don't personally like this particular design, I see Spyderco far from the mall ninja crowd. They are imo the most function driven knife maker out there. With that being said, they also venture out of their comfort zone way more than anybody else, and those are some of the main reasons they are by far my favorite. Doing that, you sometimes have duds and misses, but that risk is nice to see. I will probably never buy any of those specialized self-defense knives, as I am more of a knife being a simple tool to cut things kind of guy. I do realize though that Spyderco focuses on supplying LE and Military personnel with serious purpose built knives with input from the likes of Michael Janich among others.
The thing that actually turns me off with this particular design are some of the "fashion statements" the knife makes. Things that have no functional reasoning, but just look "cool." You also have to understand the designer. As I understand him, he has never made a knife and only comes up with designs, and sells his designs to a maker. That model is a little off putting to me personally. It is like a song writer writing lyrics, but not actually performing the songs. I am not opposed to his designs completely based off that, I have and really like the Junior. Also it may be ergonomic (looks can be very deceiving), so I wouldn't make that call until you hold one.
