Spyderco Battlestation

I can dig it, but I'm not too confident in using Vg-10 in a hard way. Hopefully that doesn't mean I've been holding my endura back any.
As for mall ninja, eh. I think it can find it's uses and they'll only be apparent after it's been around for awhile, somebody said something about skinning and that seems like an amazing idea with this blade. If I'm wrong and it can take a beating like my ZT 0700 then I'll pick one up the second someone puts one up here

When I think hard use in terms of blade steel, I mainly think of edge stability. In my uses VG-10 has very good edge stability. Also, it is very rust resistant, so it can be mistreated in the cleaning department which is a reality for a hard use blade. I would push your Endura harder.

I received my Battlestation yesterday and am VERY pleased. It is compact (not small) and stout. The ergonomics are excellent and it is ominously attractive. Very sharp out of the box, terrific Spydie wire clip and grippy G-10 handle. The choil is exactly where and how it should be, adding to the utility and safety of the design. It locks up like a bank vault. This is an all-around winner.

it's on my list of spydies this year, but lets just say it's low on my list... chubby, k2, dog tag, roc, carey, and my favorite... the introvert!!!

Spyderco, gotta catch em' all!!!

Had to wait a long time to order my Battlestation. For a VG-10/G-10 the price of $148.99 was just right. It'll become one of my EDCs with that just under 3" blade and that strong tip will come in handy.

I was diggin' the design of the knife(handle and scales), then the blade flipped out and I stopped the video. Just not my thing.....at all. I'm going to refrain from saying what I really want to say here. Those of you who do like it and buy it I hope you enjoy it.

I've really enjoyed mine thus far...it's been a few weeks since I've carried it (I rotate through all of my current 37 Spydies) and I think it's time to give it another few days or maybe even a week of pocket time again.

It's funny how people's taste vary. The handle don't do anything for me. I don't like the exposed liners around the lanyard hole. The blade actually looks useful to me as a work knife. Cutting and scrapping. Kind of tanto, but with some belly. I like the tanto in a work knife.
I'm sure the handle is more friendly then it looks. It looks like it might be more pocket friendly then some other Spydercos. If they had covered the liners around the lanyard hole, and added a full length back spacer. Then it would have been an alternative to the Native 5.

The exposed liner area doesn't bother me (I kind of like it actually), and it doesn't create a hot spot on my palm. And as for the handle, it's definitely one of the more comfortable knives I've ever held...it REALLY surpassed my expectations as far as handle ergonomics are concerned, and it carries very unobtrusively in pocket.

The blade is probably intentionally (for legal reasons) under 3 inches. When I played with the knife I felt that if it were 3.5 or even 4 inches the design would make a lot more sense but the way it is I simply can't quit wrap my mind around it...

Fuuuuuugly! :barf:

Hands down winner for Spyderco's least attractive knife ever IMHO. Spyderco has never been given kudos for their aesthetics (although they've grown on me over the years), but... Wow.

Not that it might not be awesome for its intended purpose - it certainly seems to be stoutly constructed - but a beauty it ain't.

Knives like this are perfect illustrations of the phrase "In matters of taste, there can be no dispute".

I think it looks like a knife you would find next to the Mortal Kombat knife at the flea market. However, many here obviously like it quite a bit, and aren't embarrassed to be seen using it ;)

I think this is actually what makes Spyderco one of the Great Knife Design Houses. They aren't afraid to come out with radically opposing aesthetics in the pursuit of exploring what knives can be.

OK, that's definitely a contender. But without the "tumor" it would be a MUCH better looking knife.

Oh, I agree. And certainly function has its own beauty. I'm not trained in knife fighting so I can't address how good the Battlestation might be for its intended task. Someone with the proper training might think it's perfect.

I think the Battlestation looks good. From the responses I'd guess I'm in the minority viewpoint on this...I didn't like it the first time I saw it, but it started to grow on me, and did enough for me to buy one and I'm glad I did. And it's a fairly useful blade for tasks other than knife fighting.

Got my Battlestation today. Weighs a stout 4.53 ounces with a blade length of just under 3 inches. Blade thickness is 0.133 inches and significantly 0.135 inches in the tip area and the actual tip 0.066 inches. Very secure grip but a little jimping would've been welcomed. It's a mini tank and great for the emergency prying. Very glad I got one.
