Spyderco black blade questions

Only the models made in Golden use DLC. The knives made in other countries use other coatings.

I used to own quite a few of the Temperance 1 model but now I down to 4 of them :(>> But these are truly ones I use and two of them I use a lot. Now at one time I had two of the black bladed TEMPERANCE 1 models (PE & SE)>> but I never knew what type of coating they were. Does anyone know that?

Also I had one of the original Perrin fixed blade models circa 2003 and it had a black blade>> what was it made of?

Back in 2015, they were supposed to be coming out with black bladed FFG Delicas and Enduras. I can't remember where I saw this, bu I guess it never came to fruition....

I would love an update from someone in the know. I'd love a FFG black blade Delica. Put that under some of Boomer scales ......

I don't know about all blades but the coating on Delica clips does not seem to be DLC - it is more like the cheap painting on old Cold Steel models. Definitely different from the clip of ZT 0562.

Golden - DLC
Taichung - TiCN
Seki- TiCN
China - Some toxic black paint lol

I have to say, the TiCN Spyderco uses is definitely the best I have ever seen on a knife, it's extremely durable and is almost totally non reflective, many TiCNs are glossy.

DLC is definitely the most durable coating there is out there, but it can also be easily ruined by making it shiny like Cold Steel does and Kershaw did on the grey Launch 1...eyeroll

Good news as I just ordered a stealth TiCN Matriarch today. :)
