Spyderco blasphemy

The Pingo was designed for countries who prohibit a one handed opening blade. The hole was never intended to be used as an opener. It's only cosmetic in keeping with Spyderco design.

First a Spyder Hole on a Benchmade and now this? The world must truely be coming to an end. Look away Sal, look away!

Fixed your post. :)

I thought it functioned as both a thumb stud and stop pin simultaneously (Though the opening hole is definitely the way I use it).

What are you gonna build a hot rod next...Chevy frame with a Ford engine?

I'm a Chevy guy (I own 3 GM vehicles...'64 Impala Convertible, '77 K10 Blazer, and '05 GMC Canyon), but I do still enjoy originality where I find it...such as "BlaspHemi". Long live Roadkill! What Top Gear USA SHOULD have been...

Edit: Sorry to hijack the thread...but I had to.

I fitted a thumb stud to my Pingo when i first got one but found it did not work as smoothly as i would have liked, the stud touches the cover and is to close to the pivot point to work properly because you are working against the notched joint mechanism, so working on the basis that Spyderco know what they are doing i removed the stud. But if you can get on with the stud i wish you well because either way it is a great knife.

Pingos were available on amazon a few days back for $10 each (don't ask me why), so I bought two. One has a thumbstud fitted just like that. The other has been zip-tied and will have the blade modified into something more pointy.

I like that! Ya know, that is what has kept me from buying a pingo! A non functional spydie hole, aside from fixed blades of course, just seems wrong! It is about as wrong as a thumb stud, but hey atleast the thumb stud opens the knife. I can't function without my spydiehole.

As a heads up the lock on this knife is a pretty tight. It's not like opening a delica.
