Well, as some of you know I've been trying to decide on a new Benchmade, and was going to check the out again today. Well, I did. When I arrived at the knife shop I discovered they received a new shipment of knives late yesterday afternoon after I had left.
I Watched as the owner placed one of the new arrivals in the showcase:eek: I nearly fell over as I watched him gently place the knife in the display holder, it was Spyderco Brad Southard:eek:...

I asked "can I see that one"? He handed it to me, and I could not believe what I had in my hands. I asked if this was the only one, and he said no, I ten more out back that came in yesterday's shipment. He brought them all out front and placed them on the counter so I could have my pick. I inspected all Of them and I would have been hard pressed to find an issue with any of them. I found the perfect one, and handed over the cash, and left in disbelief.

After handling the Southard for some time, and checking all of them out thoroughly, it was obvious that this knife was ozzing QUALITY. I have to say, I am sooooo glad I held off buying a Benchmade yesterday, and went back today. This knife is just amazing in every way. The fit and finish is perfect, ergo's are excellent, and it opens like butter. I know I made the correct choice for me. My Sage 1 will be my office blade, and the Southard will fill every other roll, if I can bring myself to carry it:)

Well, enough chatter.......

I find it very comfortable and it slips in, and out of the pocket with no problem. I would not hesitate if you are considering one.

Excellent choice. The southard is flat out the best production knife I've ever owned, or even handled for that matter.

Thanks for the pictures, and good know you found one.

Can you give us an idea how much you paid for it?

Also is the lockbar carbodized?

I agree... I love my Sage1, but the Southard is just built like a tank, and very EDC friendly. I have had and handled hundreds of knives, but this thing blows them all away. Worth every penny.

What everyone else is paying, I suppose?

I do not believe it's carbonized.

Southard is amazing, big blade but doesn't feel like you're carrying a big knife

Its not carbodized but it is heat treated similar to what Chris Reeve does with the sebenza.

That's what I though, but wasn't sure.

I almost bought a Sebenza last week on here but the seller backed-out, and I thank him:D

Looks good, I would like to hold and play with one in the near future.

I've been loving mine since having it. Perfect fit/finish. I generally like really early lockup, but at about 50%, I sure everyone would be pleased. Great great knife. Perfect steel choice.

Now I just need to save up for a custom Southard.. I'll be saving for awhile. :)

I've had one in my pocket for 2 weeks now. There is nothing about this knife I don't like. It packs a whole lot of cutting edge into a minimal design. The ergos are spot on, the flipper is phenomenal. If this is Spydercos first entry into the flipper world, I am impressed that they next one will be extreme perfection as well. Te steel on this knife is just about awesome. ;)

Love the Southard, just one thing that keeps me away. I just do not like internal blade stop designs. I would much prefer an external blade stop. Love the way it looks and the quality looks top notch also.
