I have been wanting to get one for a while now but just haven't. Who has one? Any thoughts about this knife?

I bought a couple of the seconds that the spalted maple had cracked on. I filled the cracks with superglue and I've been using them ever since. I didn't expect to like them at all, as I usually prefer thinner blades and thin edges. I was quite surprised at how well the scandi grind cuts, and the handle is great. I can use it for hours without hot spots or fatigue. I'd say "Go for it."

I would love to get one, purely do to they fact that they were smart and awesome enough to stick a Scandi grind on the knife. I LOVE Scandi grinds.

I really like the whole package. The grip is really comfortable. The grinds are about as perfect as my eyes can see. The steel is one of my favorites, and when you sharpen it you will know why. It takes some nice edges and cuts very well. It's perfect for it's intended purpose.

it's my favorite knife - the most ergonomic handle i've ever held. think mora handle but even more comfortable.

I have a G-10, it's very nice.

The ergos on this knife are amazing. Excellent craftsmanship too.

Here's my review

Great picture. Almost has a 3D effect. I have one and like it a lot. The handle has great ergonomics on it and you (I) have gotten no fatigue from using it. Here it is before it got put to work.....

You guys are making me want to buy one more and more. But they are just so expensive...

The current production run is G-10. I'm glad they didn't give up on the model after the fiasco with the "stabilized" wood on the first run.

Agree, but am super happy the 1st run was made, then blown out!
So far, no further issues with the wood. The few cracks have almost completely closed up.
Might have been the altitude change to Co. then healed when back to Sea level.
Not sure, but do love the wood.

Photos when new, prior to cleaning & when the cracks were still showing.

I think it has more to do with humidity than altitude. We're a lot lower than Golden, but at least as dry. The cracks on mine actually grew a little when I let the knives sit for a month to acclimatize before I filled the cracks.

I must admit, I had no intention of buying one, and I doubt I ever would have had they not been sold as seconds.

I got the G-10 version and it's become my main hiking knife. Holds an edge very well and sharpening is so easy with the scandi grind. And VERY COMFORTABLE. My girlfriend even told me she wish I would hold her as much as I hold my Spyderco Bushcraft. :D

Humm hungry now.
I'm almost sure I must buy this knife now.

go for it. it's a very under-rated knife in this forum - i rarely see it in the w&ss subforum posts. people tend to focus too much on super steels or heat-treat but they're useless imho without good ergonomics backing it up. after all, what good is a knife with excellent edge holding ability if you can't stand to use it for more than a few minutes? this one is fortunately blessed with both.

That is an excellent picture JV3.

thanks! i can't take credit for it though. my buddy gonadz took that pic while i was just doing my own thing.

haha!

Seems like everyone agrees that's is a great knife and underrated. Other than the first wooden handle models that cracked that really seem to be to only negative point.

If you really want a scandi grind knife in O1, then buy the knife without hesitation. Build and quality are unmatched for a production knife. But do you really want a scandi knife? And in O1?
