personally i like the bushcraft northwest design better than the spyderco one. the sheath also has a firesteel loop where the spyderco one doesnt, thats not a huge issue but might be a selling point for some.

Well, like most things, it is highly subjective.

If you are used to a guard-less knife like the Bushcraft NW, then that is a fine design.

If you want a more modern design, then the Spyderco Bushcraft is good.

I resolve these sort of conflicts by buying both.

The NWs handle looks alot more comfy. That and Dans been doin that grind awhile so I think he knows it better. Id go with it.

welcome to the forum Bushcraft.

They both look like solid knives. The Bushcraft Northwest handles are fatter and appear to be more user friendly in many different grips. When working for extended times with a tool, I prefer a fatter handle like that on the Buscraft N.W.

I would still like to get my hands on the Spyderco though.

Welcome to BF, bushcraft! Nice picture ;)

I haven't yet handled the Spyderco, but I will! One way or another, haha. Just based on how it 'looks', I believe the handle on the BCNW will be preferable. It's extremely versatile and comfortable for me. I don't know whether the Spyderco will have the right circumference.

Admittedly that spyderco just speaks to me for some reason. However, I have no idea what it feels like in the hand.

There are a few others to consider such as an Enzo trapper, one of the kellams or traditional puuku's.

I just got a Spyderco Bushcraft. Its pretty nice I must say.

Personaly I'd go with the Bushcraft NW.

The handle is better and fills the hand allowing for stronger more secure pressure cuts. It works very well in a variety of positions. Blade by Daniel Koster who has been making fantastic bushcraft knives for a good while now. Plus it comes with an excellent sheath.

Mike Lummio at BushcraftNW is a great guy to deal with as well. Very honest customer centerd folks.

Have not tried the NW, but the Spyderco has a large enough handle to fit my hand very well, and I like the abbreviated guard.

Along with what others have said I would like to add that it seems the BCNW was designed by a bushcrafter. Someone who knows what the knife will be used for. That's a big selling point for me over Spyderco who just produced a knife to get in on the bushcraft market. YMMV.

Yeah, but they did a lot of research and took input from prominent UK bushcrafters.

The handle on the BCNW looks a little short and strange to me so I'd go with the Spyderco.....in reality though I think I'd contact Andy of Fiddleback knives and ask him what he could make me, have ya seen his scandi edges.....awesome !!!!

I think Brian Andrews made the best Bushcraft knives period but he is no longer doing them !

Too me it just looks like a modified mora handle.
