Spyderco Bushcraft: Who knew???

I don't think of Spyderco as a fixed blade maker, as you said I see them mainly as folders. As the years go by though I see the fixed blades that they make and I have always kind of wanted them but not bad enough to get one. I then kick myself for not getting one when I hear/read how awesome they are and then I still never get one. I should get one to keep in my truck or a bob when i get around to making one, if i ever do...

I find this one very attractive. Very nice pics by the way!

That maple burl looks awesome too.

I definitely need the G10 version of this knife. But for now the cracked handles are working just fine.

Maybe they'll do the next run of knives with burled maple... without the cracking issues of course. What a classy knife that would be to carry, with the super duper steel and more popular grind I would think it would be very

Id use it as a belt knife. I wonder if you could use the same handle design for a folder? ....anyway I typed up a whole bunch more and was rambling...basically I like the fixed Blade Spyderco as much as my 2 Spyderco folders, and would like another one!

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing a wooden version again. I've been happy with Bocote lately.

I really am not looking forward to too many changes. I like this knife the way it is.

I'd like to see a Gundy style sheath for it like I run on my F1, with a Fire Steel loop.

This knife is really working for me. It has me looking hard at the Temperance 2 and now even the Schempp Rock.

Put it to work on a piece of Beech this morning for some feather sticks for the coffee fire. It has been raining here for days. Everything is pretty damp. Nothing like the folks in Colorado are getting though.

Nothing beats Sunday morning coffee by the fire,

OP,

Would you mind a quick comparison of this to some of your other knives? BHK and Fiddleback mostly, but interested in others too.
Thanks.

Excellent thread with very good pictures LostViking.

I really like the Bushcrafter also, and like you prefer it over some other also very nice knives. It cuts great, is built very well but the real stand out is the grips. It's the most comfortable of all in that size range.

It's very easy to sharpen, maintain and has excellent toughness. It's always in the running for the "one knife for...?" threads we often see.

I'm using mine to go cut some cattails to try making dolls for the first time tomorrow! So excited to do this with my kids!

I wanted an S90V Bushcraft - thought I'd found it today - turned out it was an FB30G South Fork. It was in the 'Sale' bin at my local sharp-thing-emporium, most recently known as 'Land of MSRP + 10% s/t' (... and the gas to travel 50-60 miles roundtrip!). They had an assortment of goodies at a substantial savings - and the South Fork came home with me... to it's permanent new home. It'll suffice for my S90V 'bushcraft-like' knife! Just suggesting it as an upgrade steel choice if you don't like o-1.
