First thing is to call again since that has to be a fluke call to them. Second, what exactly do you mean slick? Like the g-10 has crapola in the grooves or something?

I have a HARD time believing they hung up on you on purpose.

But you should contact Sal Glesser (forumm name is the same) and ask him.

Brett

lol, well that might be why they hung up lmao. In that case, you may want to stick to non-telephone ways of communicating such as emails and PMs on here. They should help you though in any case.

so what iam only 13 but i love and have a passion with knives

Would probably be a passion for knives, rather than with them....but in any case, I think he might just mean your voice over the telephone makes you sound pretty damn young which might explain the person hanging up on you. Who knows. At the least you are able to explore your interest in knives, rather than be oppressed. Damn kids these days with $100+ knives at only 13, :(

Who hung up on you? What company? Who did you try to call? Did you call the correct number?

I have loved knives since I was six, so I can empathize with you there. But the fact is, you are a minor, which creates legal problems for a knife company attempting to deal with you directly. It may be legal for you to purchase a knife where you are, but I know it isn't legal here, and I'm fairly certain it isn't legal in Colorado either. The general procedure for dealing with a problem such as you describe is to send the knife to them so they can examine it and determine what the problem is, how to correct it and how to prevent it in the future. It will have to be shipped back to a parent or legal guardian, though.

I think it should be noted that Pimpnugget(lol) is thirteen years old.

lol (at the forum handle) indeed!:D:thumbup: Was "McLovin" already taken?:p

P.S. I think Yablanowitz hit it on the head. Pimpnugget (lol), have your parents call for you.;)

dude, is it really necessary to correct the kid on his grammar, like that's relevant at all?

and so what if he has a 100 dollar knife?

If it is his own money, he is learning the value of it. If his parents got it for it, far from it. I've learned the hard way just getting crap whether you want it or not, doesn't help you as a person. The fact that he has a $100 knife, when most people would laugh at a knife that much, even some who like knives. The simple fact is it isn't a cheap knife and the kid is a kid.

Whatever, no need to discuss this anymore. He is lucky to have the knife regardless of age or way of acquisition.

Hope your issue is resolved asap pimpnugget.

A 100 knife is NOT an expensive knife.

anyway, good luck getting your issue resolved PN. Enjoy your knives. I learned at a VERY young age to love them and it's a passion that has followed me all my life.

Do make sure you're within your legal right when buying and carrying. there's no reason to risk your or your parent's legal status. Out side of that, GOOD LUCK!

Riz: I do happen to agree with you about learning the value of money. However, I don't find it relevant at all to the discussion.

Take care,
brett

Just trying to add some meaning to what was mentioned earlier with him being only $13. And $100 is expensive, it is all relative. Think that the majority of people and possibly knives out there are below $100 and that a 13yo has a $100, it is on the pricey side. Obviously a Chris Reeve's or some custom would be $$$$ and would be really expensive. When something within one category can cost $10 and be just as good or pretty close, I'd think $100 is up there.

In all honesty, everything is relative and I also agree with you that it isn't for discussion here. Though it does seem were done plenty lol.

OP- What's the scoop with your knife?

LOL! I guess we've discussed it plenty.

I too am curious what's up with his knife.

I have lots of Spydies with G-10 handles. The few that I have carried on a regular basis (Paramillie, Dodo) became smoother with time just from riding in my pocket. It might just be normal wear and tear.

Well, may just be a coincidence, but someone the same age posted a similar problem on the Spyderco factory forum about two weeks back. From the photos posted there, the issue appeared to be some sort of gunk that got smeared on the handle and dried, rather than the texture of the G-10 wearing off. Assuming this is the same young fellow, and the same knife, seems the first thing he needs to do is to think back and try to remember what he might have gotten on the handle. Once he's reasonably sure what the gunk actually is, there may, or may not, be things we can suggest using to remove it.
