I was at the knife store today and saw a Caly Jr. I searched Spyderco's website and couldn't find anything about it.

Is it a discontinued knife?

It was selling for $73.00 new, is that a good price?

The Calypso Jr. in most configurations has been discontinued for a while. The last runs that I know of were black FRN handle with laminated ZDP-189/420J blades which were being produced for a specific distributor (Moteng if I recall correctly). $73 for new in box would be a fair to excellent price for almost any variation.

Well I went back today and sure enough it is a ZDP-189 new in box, so I grabbed it up.

Nice deal on a nice knife. Here she is!

Thanks for your input guys:thumbup:

Sorry, one more question.

In this picture, what does the "AG" below Calypso mean? This picture was taken from another Calypso Jr in ZDP-189.

However, on my knifes box it has a "DG" and its the same knife and model #

The AG and DG are date codes for when the knife was made. I believe they indicate January of 2007 and April of 2007 respectively.

AG=January 2007

DG=April 2007

First digit is the month A= January, B=February, C=March etc

Second Digit is the year A=2001, B=2002, C=2003, D=2004 etc.

According to this code the world will end in 2026:eek:

one more Calypso Jr EDCer! (my EDC today is the same as yours, ZDP-189/Black FRN)
