Spyderco Calypso Brown Sprint Run

I wish it was a little smaller. Saw one in person on Monday and it is pretty big but nice and thin. Looks like a slicer

Get the 3.5 then, guess if it is the brown you really like you are out of luck. The Caly line is awesome, 3", 3.5", and 4" This basically is the Endura with a choil which I have heard people ask for.

Got mine today. Pretty amazing knife.

It's neat to compare its handle to the 3.5. The 3.5 isn't precisely the scaled down version I expected it was.

Here's one with the beginning of their edges lined up. The 3.5 has more curve to its handle and blade.

Here's one with the choils lined up. The 3.5's is actually slightly deeper. Also, it's interesting how much further forward the thumb ramp is on the 3.5 relative to the choil.

I forget what I was trying to show with this one :p

I handled one yesterday and I thought it was a really nice piece. The blade seems to be more narrow than the original large Calypso.

I expected mine yesterday and will be strongly disappointed in USPS, if I will not receive mine today. :(

May I see the Calypso along with the Endura for size reference? Thanks!!

Kreole, It looks like the handle is a lot longer than it needs to be for that blade, is it? The Chokwe is the biggest knife I carry, and I sometimes feel like there is more handle than I need on that knife.

They're pretty darn close. I didn't realize how similar they are til I put them next to each other to take the pic

Hmm well Spydercos are not usually good when it comes to blade:edge ratio, but the tip goes to the end of the handle basically

compared to another knife with a better blade:handle ratio

The knife looks great! I read on an A.G. Russell advertisement that the run is limited to 1200 pieces. I have a couple of run of the mill Spydercos, but this knife looks almost more like the Al Mar Eagle with the talon blade (the most recent copy of which I bought was made by Moki).

Can anybody give me the most economical source for one of these new Calypsos?

Thanks,

Stay properly honed....

what's the thickness of the blade? also, any pictures next to a Millie? looks like it would be a great folder for kitchen work.

As much as I like the Calypso, I am thinking about getting a G10 Police because I feel like the Caly is too close in size to the Military, which I already have.

Sal,

The large Caly is one of your best looking designs... I don't know what it is but always tend to favor the models that you and Eric have personally designed.
