I am going knife shopping tomorrow and i have a little money hanging around and as usual ill spend it on a spydie so just curious if anybody has heard anything bad about the knifes above...or anything extraordinarily good about them in that case

Looks to me like you've made three good choices. All have VG10 blade steel. Your choice would depend on exactly what you intend to do with the knife. If you actually get the chance to handle all three, that should make your choice easier. Or it may just get you to want all three.:)

police 3 is awesome.

....they couldn't be more different. If you get a chance to handle each, you'll have a good sense of what will work best for you. I often EDC a plain edge Ocelot....not that it makes a heck of a lot of difference what I like. ;)

Police 3 is one of the best self defense oriented folders Spyderco has ever made, IMO.
Big and fast with a great lock, I really like it.
Ocelot is a very thin well built knife with unique paw prints.( I think down the road this one will be rather sought after as a collector) I have 3 of those and they just feel great in hand. The blade just seems to be right where you want it for cutting and as a skinner/utility knife it's hard to beat. (it's also discontinued)
The Captain, looks interesting but I've not bought one so I can't say much about it first hand.
I will add if the Ocelot you can buy has a gold bug on the blade, instead of the black and is plain edged I'd for sure snap it up.

If you are buying one just to collect, it doesn't really matter. If you are buying a user knife, those three couldn't be more different. I picked up a used Captain here and it works wonders for some of the things I do at work, but 99.9% of the time I carry my P-Mil because a I need a real point.

Just curious what makes the Gold bug on the Ocelot any more desireable, I'm looking at Mine (gold bug) that I have had for about 2yrs, very minimal use. Should I put it back in it's box? Just to add that the Ocelot is one of the best constructed knives I own, including customs I have. The Japanese are incredible with there production knives have been for years.

texbaz,

The Ocelot models with the gold bug are more rare than the black ones. I've read that the gold bugs were wearing away too easily and that Spyderco switched to the black to correct the problem. I have no idea what the production numbers for each were, but the ones with the gold bug are definitely harder to come by now. Same deal with the Kris and probably the Persians too. The gold bugs looks great!

awesome well you guys were right about the captain... i realized how much i use the point on my endura so i couldnt sell myself on it... then for the police it is beautiful and i will def invest in one one day but it is too much like my endura to buy one this early in knife collecting for myself... i ended up w the ocelot (gold bug) and it is a solid solid knife... it fells like it is part of your hand when you hold it and i love the sturdy feel of the non-skeletonized liners in it.... it makes for a heavier and knife with a solid lock up just like every other spyderco out there... in a ddition i got a clip-it salt 1 with the h1 steel and full serrated blade since i dont have anything like it... not too mention the yellow g10 handles are total bad ass... also one final point is that the ocelot is so nice i hate to carry it... like yall said it is discontinued so i hate to mess it up... i think it might be a simple task/collector blade for me right now... thanks for all your help
