Looking for feedback from you guys if anyone uses this knife for basic camp/ outdoor chores.
Thanks for your feedback....

I looked at getting one of these because I really like it's style, but did a bit of research on bf and decided against it. They often come up on the Spyderco forum as least favourite models.

The biggest complaint by Spyderco users seems to be the liner lock used which gives it a relatively tough and rough opening action compared to other Spydies.

I've also got doubts as to the practical usefulness of the blade profile. It's only 2 15/16" long and it's effective useful length will be shorter in the same way as a tanto. I think any benefits given by the curves would be more than offset by the lack of a straight edge or real point.

Shame because I do like the look and am a big Spyderco fan.

thanks for your reply, Im surprised that I didnt get more feedback from more people in this wilderness forum..

I've been kind of looking at them for a while trying to decide if I wanted to give it a shot or not. It seems to me that the tip section would be much more useful than the tip section of a tanto. . . the thing that kinda turns me off is the big false edge on the back of the blade. It looks like it would make it uncomfortable to place your thumb on the back of the blade for whittling or for control when trying to do any finer work with the tip section.

I've had one about a year now.

I do like this blade as a secondary folder to my kit, (my primary folder is the bigger Manix).

With the Captain I have; carved about four different walking sticks; made a ton of fuzz sticks as fire starters; prepped dinner; used as a gardening tool to prune plants and bushes; used it as a scraper on a canoe paddle I was finishing (it did admirably without rolling an edge, which I did with my Buck 110); cut cord and twine and such.

The blade shape takes a little getting used to. I'm not a huge fan of the lock. I wish it were a shade bigger.

I have found I use it more as an around the house tool as opposed to a wilderness and survival tool.

The false edge on the back of the blade has been a real non-issue in the applications which I have used the knife.
