Spyderco Cat G-10 question

Yep. G10. That centering issue might be the screws on the handle, rather than the pivot. Try tightening them. If that does not work, send it to Spyderco. They will make it right. Email them.

I bought a Cat because I wanted a cheap knife to travel with. The one I got was better finished than my Chaparral. I was happily surprised. I really like the knife. Now, if Spyderco would have made this a back lock I would have been happier.

Is Spederco going to warranty a knife bought on ebay?

Yes. If it was new. But, they also have warranted used knives in original condition. I have known of Spyderco fixing some pretty outlandish things that were not their fault. Spyderco is one of two companies that usually go above and beyond.

Yep, i tried the pivot and it doesn't change anything. I got it tight enough so there is not side to side play, but still smooth to open. Doesn't change the centering though, this is the best I could do...

Seems I got a genuine, but amazingly the quality is just not there. My Persistence is perfect in every way (well, I just wanted a better steel), but looks like I am sending this one back

Hi temchik,
Sorry for your disappointment. We'd recommend that you send it in to W&R for evaluation. We'll be able to confirm that it is legitimate and address the issues. You'll find all of the contact information here, http://www.spyderco.com/edge-u-cation/index.php?item=10.

You'll be in good hands with W&R.

Kristi

My Chicago is genuine but is nowhere near the quality of any other Spyderco I have. Doesn't make it a bad knife, or not useful, though.

humm still, wish I had gotten my hands on one of these, bearing I would have gotten a decent finished one.

I personally think spyderco would do well to group the Cat and Chicago under the ''value line''.

I had my dealer pick out some good ones back then and they have all been fine (gave all, but one away as gifts). I still sharpen them for the people who got them from time to time and they still function fine.

Glad I saw this thread! I bought a cat g10 last year, and was a little disappointed with the qc. Mine had a stripped scale screw and vertical play out of the box. Was going to send it in, but for me its a light duty edc on weekends/church/ect so I didn't mind so much. Wad wondering if mine was the only one. Guess not! Still love it though. Handy little sucker!
