Mine also has the machine marks on the locking surface. Other than that, a very well made knife.

Speaking of the liner lock, any one know why Spyderco didn't go with the lockback? It's the only thing keeping me from going for one.
 
I just got my Cat yesterday. None of the torx screws were stripped and the carbon fiber was nicely fitted and finished. My tang has the same textured markings as others have reported. The only imperfection I saw was that the blade does not line up dead-center, but it's close. Overall, I'm very happy with the knife, which came sharp. This is my first experience with S30V and I'm looking forward to sharpening it and seeing how fine I can get that edge.
 
S30V blade, carbon fiber scales, good fit and finish.... nice materials, for mid-forty bucks or so... looks like a really great deal.
