Spyderco Centofante 3

Country of origin is beginning to be irrelevant as to quality. For Spyderco, it already is. The Seki plant makes great knives.

+1 on that statement. The Chinese manufacturer Spyderco/Byrd uses makes top notch, low cost knives.

As far as Japan, if you cant get your knife made in the US, Japan is the next best place. 98% of my spydies are seki made and I love em.

If it says Spyderco on it (and assuming it's not a bogus knockoff) then it's a good knife, regardless of where it was manufactured. If the owner, Sal, sees fit to put the name and logo of his company on it, it has to be good.

Very well said shangchi. I totally agree.
If it has the Spyderco logo, you're good to go!

The Seki City Spydercos have always been fantastic, no less knife than those made in the USA. The Chinese made models are another story, but they do appear to be well made and have gathered quite a following.

As for the Centofante 3, it is a real "sleeper". It's one of those great bang for your buck knives, VG-10 steel, very light and great ergos. I liked it so much I got the Centofante 4 as well, which is currently enjoying EDC status (since Christmas) :)

You'll enjoy the knife, I think. I've had a Centofante 3 & 4 & liked them. I'm not sure why I got rid of them, though.

The confusion about the Centofante's might be on which one you read about. I just picked up a Vesuvius or Centofante 2 & it's made in Golden. I believe it has the same dimensions as the 3 & 4, but it's a compression lock & has ATS-34 steel, instead.

Congrats on your 1st Spyderco, I'm sure it won't be your last.

I've had a Centofante 3 for a while. I know lockbacks with a bit of blade play are acceptable but it's nice to have one that is flawless like the Centofante. It's a great EDC, very light, awesome cutter and a good size for cutting lunch.
Nutnfancy does a decent review of it here.

I'm carrying mine more and more.

CentoFante III is my main EDC blade.

I plan to get a couple more for my collection; just in case the price goes

up in the future or gets discontinued.

THIS KNIFE IS AWESOME - It came shaving sharp and is very comfortable:cool:

After using it for a while, the only thing I don't like is the pointy bit above the hole, where the jimping stops and the blade starts arcing down. That really should be rounded. Hmm. Maybe I should buy a second one and try modding it with a dremel. Otherwise great blade, comfortable handle (And the most elegant example of FRN I've seen), incredible value...

I, too, don't like the rise around the Spydi-hole on my Military, Centofante 3, and other Spyders (I still love them all, though). For this reason I tend to EDC my Native in S30V (Golden, Colorado) the most. I also like the contours of the Native better than all my other Spyders (exept maybe the Military).
