I sure wish they would make another run of these, in BG42. The one I HAD, you never had to sharpen it. like a dummie, I sold it. Lets get a petition up, and send to Sal, say we want another run.

I would sign it, too. But with the Ti Military coming that is just not going to happen.:(

I have a CF/BG42 model, but don't notice any great benefit to the steel. It's good, but S30V is better, which is one reason I switched my EDC to the Manix.

Isn’t there serious availability problems with BG-42? I’ve heard so many good things about the steel but looking around at the offerings it seems unlikely that I’ll ever get a chance to try it.

BG42 is capable of taking a finer edge than S30V and is generally heat treated to a higher hardness than most S30V.

I've come to look at these special Military runs as the folding version of the Mule program, so I'd think another run is probably not too likely.

The last time Sal mentioned BG-42 there was an eighteen month lead time to get the steel, so he wasn't planning a Mule in it. From what I have read on the factory forum, the Ti Military will be S30V, the MSRP around $350 and street prices for the dealers taking pre-orders is running $215 to $225.

The BG-42 Military is nice, but the S90V version works better for me.

Are you sure about the steel on the Ti Millie? I was so sure they would keep the good stuff from the CF version... I bought a Mule in S90V and because it is not that expensive I practiced sharpening it and I must say it is really an amazing steel. So I got an S90V Millie and now I want more (maybe Eric's sprint run for the Manix II?).

It's rare, but S30V/carbon fiber Militarys were available at one time. Not sure how many were made, though.

400 IRC

Thought about getting one the other day, but I have several other Millies and I really like my BG42 one. The S30V CF one only has one nested liner so it is slightly lighter:cool:

I believe you are right on the 400.

I'm fairly sure. http://spyderco.com/forums/showpost.php?p=492716&postcount=3

Of course, it could have changed since then, but I have a feeling it would be at least $50 higher if the blade was S90V.
