Sorry I typed in the wrong name in the title block for this knife; it is an Embassy not a Citadel.

I got this Spyderco Embassy in a trade recently, and I like it a lot. I probably will not carry it much, but it is a nice design and is very well made. IMO it is a step up from Benchmade autos and almost on par with Microtechs.

It locks up very solid with no blade play in any direction. The S30V Blade is very sharp right out of the box. The G10 inserts in the handles are very accurately fitted and there are nice machining details on the release button and the lock slide, both of which fit exactly and function smoothly. The pocket clip can be repositioned to any of three positions. The handle is also very ergonomic.

All in all it is a very functional and well made knife.

The C83 is one of my grail Spydies. One day I'll find one.

Wish I'd have known you wanted one, because there was (gold bug)one on the bay (no box though) supposed to be new and the seller mistakenly said it was a 105 and it was up for 2 weeks, started at 169 and since people thought it was a 105 it never got a bid. (if he'd had the box he wouldn't have said 105) I told 2 people here, but they never bought it.
I have the two and being it had no box I didn't really want it.

That's interesting. If the seller thought it was a 105, then why did he start the price off so high? I used to watch eBay a lot, and I used to catch some pretty good deals. Lately, all I've been watching are the various forums for purchases. I think it's time I start watching the 'bay again, see what type of deals I can get. Sometimes I forget to bid though. Lost out on some good ones before, that went really cheap. Hate when that happens.

I could tell it was an 83 from his pictures. He knew it was the larger model and I think he just thought it was the bigger number, being his box was misplaced and there's no number on the knife.
I even asked him the blade size and he said 3 and a half. He just made a mistake on the listing and nobody would bid 169 (start price) it went for a week didn't sell, he re-listed another week. I told a different member here I thought wanted one each week.
The black bug one above, I bought there a short while ago, for 167.50. With box and new. It ended through the week in the day and I think sometimes there's just not as many bidding then. ( I can bid at work:o)

That makes sense. I know you know what the differences are in the C83 and 105, I thought the seller honestly did think it was a 105.
Good thing you can bid at work. Your collection probably would not be same if you couldn't. :D

Man, I wish they'd make a manual citadel.

Yesterday, I would have disagreed with you, but having handled a Citadel today I must agree. I loved the blade shape and the size, but hated the safety mechanism: it is so hard that I could not operate it one-handed, and had to use my nail because it is so small. Maybe it was a defective sample, but it was brand new...
So, yes, I would love the large Citadel blade on a Superhawk-style handle, CF and compression lock included.
