To answer the orginal question,
The tip is not at all resistant to breaking. It is designed with one thing in mind and that is to be used as a defensive knife. If you ever have to use a knife in a self defense situation, you REALLY need it! No one in their right mind would consider a knife, much less a small folding knife a primary defensive weapon. It is what you use when you have nothing else.
For that reason, the Civilian is not meant to be used as an EDC. It is not meant to do many tasks well. It is meant to do task as well as it can. If the tip breaks while you are defending your life, it still has plenty of edge and point left to continue the fight. The fact that the knife is ruined should be the LEAST of your concerns if you have to defend your life with a folding knife.
If you have to defend your life more than once with a folding in your lifetime, you need to seriously consider what you are doing wrong in your life. Either you need to avoid dangerous situations or you need to go around much more prepared.
