Chaparral Blue Stepped Titanium

Spyderco's unique Chaparral series uses a highly refined gentleman’s folder design as a canvas to highlight distinctive handle materials and texture patterns. The Blue Stepped Titanium version is the most ambitious Chaparral to date, featuring solid titanium scales meticulously CNC-machined to produce a breathtaking “stepped” pattern. Composed entirely of straight lines, this amazing pattern creates the illusion of curves and detailed geometric shapes, as well as adding texture to the handle. Partway through the machining process, the scales are color anodized a brilliant blue before they are machined again. The result is a spectacular contrast of alternating blue and silver steps that further accentuates the exacting detail of the design. This painstaking process produces only 12 sets of scales per day and is the most time-intensive manufacturing procedure used on any Spyderco knife.

One of the most exquisitely crafted folding knives ever made, the Blue Stepped Titanium Chaparral features a full-flat-ground CTS XHP stainless steel blade, a sturdy back lock mechanism, and a reversible deep-pocket wire clip that supports ambidextrous tip-up carry.

The Foundry™ is a truly unique collaborative effort between Spyderco® and Carpenter®, an industry leader in the manufacture of high-performance steels and other alloys. Designed as a highly functional, utilitarian knife that is also suitable for outdoor use, the Foundry is proudly made in Spyderco’s Golden, Colorado factory exclusively with Carpenter alloys specifically suited to the various components of the knife.

Meticulously machined from CTS™ XHP particle metallurgy steel, the Foundry’s broad clip-point blade features a full-flat grind for strength and superior edge geometry and a Trademark Round Hole™ for convenient one-handed operation. It is supported by a handle that is also crafted from premium Carpenter materials. The scales are machined from Custom®465 Stainless and joined by a back spacer made of BioDur®316LS Stainless. One of the scales proudly displays an expression of Carpenter’s iconic logo, while the opposite scale forms the foundation of the knife’s sturdy Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) mechanism, which locks the blade securely in the open position. To ensure that the Foundry is always accessible, it also features a wire pocket clip formed from Custom®465 Stainless that supports right-side, tip-up carry.

The Foundry is more than just a knife; it is a symbol of the spirit of innovation and deep American pride that define Spyderco, Carpenter, and the dedicated people of both organizations.

PITS Folder
Retail : $399.95 WAS: $244.99

Clearance Priced : $199.99 SHIPPED!

British knifemaker Mike Read is a school-trained Marine Engineer and a part-time maker who specializes in practical, highly functional, non-locking folding knives. Drawing its name from Read’s forum name on British Bladeforums, the “Pie in the Sky” or “PITS” Folder is Spyderco’s expression of one of his most popular designs.

The broad, clip-point blade of the PITS Folder is flat ground from Böhler-Uddeholm N690Co steel—a martensitic chromium steel alloyed with cobalt, molybdenum, and vanadium. Its Trademark Round Hole™ clearly identifies the knife’s Spyderco pedigree and allows convenient one-handed opening with either hand. An integral guard at the base of the edge also helps prevent unintentional closure during use.

The PITS Folder’s solid titanium handle scales are skeletonized to reduce weight and increase the handle’s grip texture. They also form the foundation of the knife’s unique slipjoint mechanism. Long machined slots at the top of each handle scale create integral spring arms that are connected by a hardened pin. When the blade is open, this pin applies pressure on a curved ramp on the tang of the blade to stabilize it in the open position. This clever mechanism, together with the blade’s prominent lower guard, helps prevent accidental closure of the knife during use. The handle also includes a reversible deep-pocket wire clip that provides convenient left or right-side tip-up carry and makes both carry and one-handed operation completely ambidextrous.

One of the most robust and capable non-locking folders ever produced, the PITS Folder is a socially friendly, legally permissible knife that offers serious cutting performance.
