First off this is a 100% positive post for Spyderco and the company. I am in the Army with the 10th Mountain Div, just returned from a 15 month deployment to Afghanistan. My EDC carry was a Military S30V. This knife performed great at all task given. I recently purchased the CF BG-42 version and love it, and have now decided on collecting all millie versions spyderco produces.

I have seen some posts about this stretch II knife, ever thought about green slabs and this new D2 version of steel (CPM D2).

speaking of that, what improvements will this new D2 steel bring to the knife world?

lastm I am now on orders for Fort Carson, Colorado, and I plan on a trip to Golden after I get settled in. Thanks to Spyderco for all you do for the knife community.

Thank you for your service to our country. I'm glad you made it back.

It is a little too early to be certain what improvements the CPM D2 will bring, it is more or less experimental at this point. Regular D2 is a tool steel, it is pretty tough stuff and holds a decent edge for a lot of use. Crucible's version may be even better. I'll let you know after I get my hands on one and beat it for a while. ;)

You're probably right, it has been several months since I read what Sal said about it. I have to check my Driver's Licence in the morning to remember my name ;)

I'd like to thank you also for your service. I was fortunate enough to have served at fort Carson in the early eighties when the entire 4th ID ( mech) was there. It's a wonderfull place. I often ask myself why I left.

Don't forget there will also be a S90V millie sprint run which should take production knives into a whole new game. I too collect the different versions of the Millie and the S90V version has me really chomping at the bit.

Once again good luck and welcome to the forums. Joe

Thanks! for the kind words, Any info about S90V and the kind of performance it should have.

Thanks,
RickJ

One of the millies that may be hard to get is the CF in s30v as only 400 were made.

Believe there's a D-2 / green G-10 Military in the works. The Stretch is one of Spyderco's Seki City built knives, so a version of it using any US steel is unlikely.

The military was my EDC knife when I was with the 101rst and the 3rd ID. It is one of my favorite all times knives. From what I have read S90V is an extremely hard steel. Thats all I can really seem to find. I think it would be hard to find a better performer than S30V but if its a version of the millie I'll buy one.
