Website cant handle the traffic I guess.
Got in the Factory Seconds page and BAM ! Gone !! 10 min in and still cant get back in.

Dang it ! Got in again, knives show up on screen, start loading cart, BAM ! Down again !!

Yeah, that's how these online 2nds sales go.. Spyderco's website is just not built to handle the traffic. Connectivity to the site typically cuts in and out throughout the day as new knives are added and web traffic ebbs and flows. Ultimately, the key to scoring on the 2nds sale is patience.. and removing all expectation that you will score on the seconds sale..

Cant believe it. I got through with my purchase. Only took me 3 hours.

2 manix and a 2 knife premium box.

Guess I should feel blessed but I dont ! Pissed me off the whole time

I can’t even get the main website to open

I was expecting a multi-million dollar company to pay for the hosting they needed. It's not that hard. Just got to cough up a little money.

While ultimately I agree, there are different loads of traffic that companies generally see. I imagine Spyderco isn't ever experiencing heavy server loads at any other time in their site-usage case, so they probably don't have the "top" data package from their provider. While it sucks that it leads to a really craptastic experience during these types of sales, it's most likely not worth paying for that sort of bandwidth the rest of the year, and most plans, you can't just be like "We want this plan, except for this one day in July every year, then we need this top tier plan to handle the traffic". 🤷

They also have experienced it during their Mule sales, so it's at least a few times a year. :D

Well then yeah, it's still the same issue. They don't want to have to pay for that sort of bandwidth, so they just let folks suck it up at salestime, so they aren't sucking up a huge bill for services they don't need the rest of the time. Spyderco IS a small company at the end of the day, and I know those guys gotta count every dollar.

Order went through finally, off and on for the last 30 mins or so.

Seems like traffic is slowing up a tiny bit.

Hmmmm.............. don't trust a seller when you can't open their site.
...Wha?
The site crashed because of too much traffic. Spyderco is extremely quality and trustworthy, a reason so many are there checking.

Wouldn't hold it against them, while annoying it's not uncommon.

With HInderer this shit was happening for years until finally they've said they have upgraded to better hosting and servers.

I wouldn't call Spyderco a small company but I wouldn't expect them to have Amazon level hosting either. Either way they will probably extend or announce something as they're definitely a stand up company.
